The City police have put in place a high-tech security plan for New Year’s Eve to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations. Sniffer dogs will be used to hunt down drug consumption on city roads, while drones will scan rooftops and isolated areas to prevent illegal activities. In addition, police will set up checking and nakabandi at 131 points across the city to keep strict watch on drunk driving and maintain law and order throughout the night. Around 2,500 policemen, from police constables to the Police Commissioner , will be deployed on city roads to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations. Police Nakabandi City police bosses took a review of the security arrangements for the new year eve and has instructed the staff to keep a tight vigil on the streets. Special arrangements will be in place at Futala lake side and on West High Court, the hot spots for the new year revellers. To ensure that road romeos do not spoil the party, city police have decided to enforce nakabandi on the popular streets. The policemen would be on street from 6 pm to 6 am, ensuring that they are on spot to tackle any eventuality. Field units have been told to crackdown on rash driving, especially on drunken driving.
