By Dheeraj Fartode Shocking allegations of misconduct have emerged against a police officer in Nagpur City Police. The officer is accused of abusive and degrading behaviour, particularly targeting accused in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sources claim that the senior officer arrives at the police station and calls the accused into a separate room, where the officer not only hurls abuse at the accused but also spits at their face. Later, the officer allegedly kicks the accused in the private parts. In some incidents, when a couple approached a police station in Nagpur to file a complaint following a domestic dispute, the police sent a proposal for preventive action to the officer. However, instead of handling the matter professionally, the officer allegedly made the man sit down, then kicked him in the private parts and leave him in pain and humiliation. A thick security blanket has been thrown over the Second Capital for the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature slated to begin here from Monday. About 12,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed in the bandobast to maintain law and order during the session. The security arrangements are being monitered by Commissioner of Police Kaushal K Pathak and Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena. Director General of Police Sanjeev Dayal would review the security arrangements on Sunday.
The security cover for the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister has also beeen strengthened. Security at the Council Hall premises, where the two houses of the legislature meet, 'Ramgiri', the official residence of the Chief Minister and 'Devgiri,' the official residence of the Deputy Chief Minister, has been beefed up. No person without valid photo identification would be allowed entry at the three places. Security had also been tightened at MLA Hostel and Nag Bhavan.
CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations to keep a watch on every activity in and around Vidhan Bhavan. Commandoes of ‘Force One,’ and Quick Response Teams and armed policemen have been deployed in the ‘three tier’ security at Vidhan Bhavan. Companies of State Reserve Police Force have been been deployed. Anti-riot vehicles -- Varun and Vajra -- would be stationed at all morcha points -- old Morris College T- Point, Empire Point near Shree Mohini Complex, Tekdi Road, Liberty T- Point and LIC Square -- along with the police force. Elaborate traffic arrangements have also been made by the Traffic Branch of the city police.
