Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Two 'Army men' dupes CISF jawan of Rs 57,000 in olx fraud

31-10-2019 Two men allegedly posed as Army personnel to dupe a CISF jawan of Rs 57,000 under the pretext of selling him a two-wheeler on an online platform, police said on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Nagpur resident Nepal Kishor Gabhne, came into contact with the duo through the portal, OLX, who had offered to sale a Honda Activa claiming they were being transferred to Jammu and Kashmir. In a bid to gain Gabhne's confidence, the accused duo sent him identity cards of two Army personnel posted in Nagpur, an official said. "Gabhne then transferred Rs 57,000 into the bank account number provided by the accused on April 11, 2019. He realised that he was cheated when the duo stopped responding to his phone calls," he said. A case was lodged with Hudkeshwar police station by the victim. Accused in murder case of TMC leader arrested from city

30-10-2019 Tehsil police have arrested a prime accused absconding in the murder case of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dilip Ram from Mominpura area of city on Wednesday. The TMC leader was shot dead on at Bandel station in Hooghly district of West Bengal on June 29 this year.  The arrested accused has been identified as Mohd Akbar Mohd Israil (33), a resident of Dingalhat, Boropara, West Bengal.  Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Swpnil Wagh of Tehsil police station informed that Akbar had arranged killers for the murder. Accused in the case Shakuntala Yadav alias Samudri Yadav, who is owner of a lodge, had rivarly with Dilip Ram over some issues. She had given the contract for killing of Dilip Ram to Akbar at Rs three lakh. Akbar had arranged two shooters who shot at Dilip Ram. Akbar was hiding at relative’s place at Nalsaab Chowk in Mominpura for last six to seven days, PSI Wagh said. The police have picked him from the house and informed West Bengal police about the arrest. 

Youth killed drunkard father, creates scene of accident to mislead police

Published on 30-10-2019 A youth killed his drunkard father for creating nuisance in the village at Junona Fuke village of Narkhed tehsil. Narkhed police have arrested accused Sachin Sukhdeo Raut (20), for killing his father Sukhdeo Sahadeo Raut (50), both residents of Junona Fuke village. The youth and friend had gone to market of the village where they consumed liquor on Sunday evening. While walking towards home, Sachin noticed his father creating nuisance on the street in inebriated condition. He asked the father that why had he consumed liquor. The father got angered over the son and slapped him. In a fit of rage, Sachin picked a wooden rod from roadside and hit him in the head. Sukhdeo collapsed on the road in pool of blood. Published on 29-10-2019 Arrested gangster Santosh Ambekar used to cast fear on his ‘targets’ with the help of negative publicity against him in media. He also used to take help of videos uploaded on You Tube by news channels.  Additional Commissioner of Nilesh Bharne informed The Hitavada that Ambekar had targeted businessmen living in Gujarat and Mumbai area. He cheated hundreds of business persons in the fake land deals. Woman abandons new-born baby on footpath at Kingsway

A new-born baby was abandoned by a woman on the footpath at Kingsway in Sadar police station area on Monday afternoon. Primary information with police revealed that a woman put the boy wrapped in cloth on the footpath and left the spot before anyone could get wiser. Vendors hawking custard apple on footpath in front of Punjab National Bank (PNB) noticed the cloth bundle and peeped inside only to find a baby who was probably born a few days back. Sunita Parate, a resident of Pachpaoli, is a footpath vendor and she told police that a middle aged woman had arrived at the spot carrying the baby. This was around 3.30 pm and the mother seemed to be all alone and may have arrived from a nearby hospital where the boy was delivered. Couple Robbed Houses After Watching Videos Online; Arrested

A couple in their 20s have been arrested for allegedly robbing houses after learning various methods of break-in by watching YouTube videos, police in Maharashtra's Nagpur said on Tuesday. An official said accused Haziapahad resident Shailesh Vasanta Dumbre, 29, is an MBA while his partner Gauri Gomade, 21, is a Bachelor of Arts student in Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya. "They live together and used to watch house-breaking theft videos on Youtube, including use of gas-cutters to pull out latches of doors. They perfected it by using a gas-cutter on objects at home," he said. He said the couple is accused of robbing Rs 2 lakh from a house in Mankapur area in April. "They were living in a rented bungalow in Gorewada area and used to commit two to three house-breaking thefts every month to support their lavish lifestyle. Motorcyclist killed after crashing into car door which opened suddenly on road

An old-aged man was killed after crashing into a car door which opened without warning on Law college square road in Ambazari police station area.  The accident occurred on Saturday at 11 am between Coffee House square and Law college square. Vasantrao Mahadeo Choudhary (65), a resident of Old Futala, Amravati Road, was unconscious when he was taken to the Hospital. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The car was in stationery position on Low college road and, for reasons unknown, a passenger sitting in the back seat of the car allegedly opened the door. Choudhary who was riding on a Scooty moped (MH-31/BX-8176) crashed into the car. Choudhary fell on the road and suffered grievous head injury. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Ambazari police have registered the case under Sections 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code. The police are searching for the vehicle. 

Crime Branch raids Ambekar’s house, seizes vehicles and silver throne collectivelly worth Rs 2.51 crore

Five cars including a BMW, four motorcycles and a silver throne collectivelly worth Rs 2.51 crore of gangster Santosh Ambekar were seized by Crime Branch of City Police. “The seizure is the part of investigation in Maharasthra Control of Organised Crime Act that was invoked against Ambekar in an cheating and extortion case,” informed Additional Commissioner of Police (Addl CP) Nilesh Bharne on Monday. “Our teams have carried out the searches at the house of Ambekar in Itwari are for two-days and seized his immovable properties. Many other properties would be seized in upcoming days,” claimed Addl CP Bharne.  MCOCA was invoked against Ambekar and his 11 accomplices last week by Crime Branch for duping a businessman of Rs five crore in a property deal and also issuing threats to him for extortion of Rs one crore. Youth murdered at Uday Nagar chowk

A youth was hacked to death by three criminals at Uday Nagar Chowk in Hudkeshwar police station area on late Sunday night.  The accused is identified as Prasad Dashrath Rokde (25), a resident of Dube Nagar and two others while deceased is - Jitendra Vasudeo Bade (29), a resident of Plot No. 366, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar.  According to police, the incident was fall out sudden altercation between the accused and the deceased and his friends. Jitendra and his friends Ritik Denge (20) and Abhijeet Kharat were conversing at Uday Nagar chowk at 12.10 am. Youth Abducts Friend to Extract Business Secrets as Facebook Pictures Arouse Jealousy

A 23-year-old man has been arrested here along with two others for allegedly abducting a youth, his friend, so as to extract 'business secrets' from him. Anmol Babulal Dongre, the main accused, had become jealous after seeing the victim's Facebook pictures which showed him splurging money, the police said. The other two accused were identified as Kishore Chunatkar (42) and Shahzad Khan Habib Khan (41). While Dongre worked as a medical representative, Chunatkar and Khan worked as a security guard and a mechanic, respectively, the police said. Dongre and the victim, who is 17 years old, were friends, the police said. After regularly seeing the victim's pictures of shopping or hanging out with girlfriend on Facebook, Dongre became jealous and thought that the victim must be making money through some secret illegal business, police said. He then hatched a conspiracy to abduct the victim with the help of Chunatkar and Khan, the police said. 47 cattle rescued from truck in Nagpur after dramatic chase

Forty seven cattle being illegally transported in a truck were rescued by the police after a dramatic chase of around 40 kms, which ended with its driver abandoning the vehicle and fleeing from the spot here, an official said on Sunday. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday, during which the truck driver broke through police barricades at two points and a barrier at a toll plaza on the outskirts before entering Nagpur city, the official said. "Police received a tip-off in the wee hours of Saturday that a truck carrying some cattle would be passing by NH-47. Accordingly, a 'nakabandi' was put in place at Kelwad.
