Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. UP ATS arrest a doctor from Yavatmal district under anti-conversion law

On 10-08-21 Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police arrested a doctor from Pusad town of Yavatmal district in connectin with a case registered at Gomti Nagar police station under anti-conversion law. It may be mentioned that three persons were arrested by UP ATS from Nagpur and Gadchiroli on July 17 in the same case. The accused person was identified as Dr. Faraz Shah Karamat Shah (27), a resident of Vasant Nagar, Pusad. A police official informed that Faraz was working with Shah Hospital at Pusad with his relatives after completing MBBS course from Government Medical College Akola in 2012. As per the records of Yavatmal police, Faraz was not a member of any organisation. Nagpur police seals Ganja Jamuna, posse of 100 policemen deployed

Man killed over borrowed money

A 30-year-old man was killed by two persons over an issue of borrowed money in the Narkhed police station area. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) have arrested Anwar Sheikh Sheikh Gaffur (20) and Rajesh Suresh Dhurwe (21), both residents of Warud town of Amravati district for the murder of Shahzad Layik Sheikh (30), a resident of Narkhed. According to police, accused Anwar runs a chicken shop while Shahzad is a construction worker. Anwar had borrowed Rs 3,000/- from Shahzad. As Anwar was not returning money, Shahzad abused him during a quarrel that broke out near Mowad village late Monday night. During the quarrel, Anawar and Rajesh killed Shahzad by smashing his head with a boulder. The body was found on Tuesday morning. After identifying the deceased, the LCB team arrested the accused within six hours and booked them under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.

Police bandobast for Independence Day A strong police bandobast of more than 2,500 police personnel will be deployed across the city on Independence Day. Kachipura garage owners stare at bleak future after fire, NMC action

A WEEK after the devastating fire at his garage, 50-year-old Gulzar Sheikh is busy in its make-over at Kachipura in Bajaj Nagar. He lost garage machinery worth more than Rs one lakh and two cars of his customers in the fire that broke out in the midnight of August 6. Man murdered over molestation

A man was murdered by two brothers in Kapil Nagar area for molesting their sister on Wednesday night. The police are also suspecting a love angle in the case. The deceased was identified as Kamlesh Bandu Sahare (27), a resident of Gaddigodam. Sahare’s wife was not living with him. He was living with parents and a daughter. A police official said that Sahare was in love with a teenage girl who is living near the house of his sister in Mhada colony. He had also gifted a mobile phone to the girl. When the parents of the girl learnt about the phone and affair, they objected to the relationship. ED probing money trail in multi-crore Metrovision scam

Enforcement Directorate ED The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has procured documents related to multi-crore Metrovision Buildcon Company scam from the City police and started investigation. The agency is probing the money laundering angle in the case, sources claimed.   The First Information Report (FIR) in the case was registered in November last year after which DCP (Zone I) Nurool Hasan had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The police have arrested 16 fraudsters so far for duping more than 6,000 investors across the country. Sources in ED informed that a copy of FIR and other documents related to the scam were procured for the probe. The focus of the ED would be on the money laundering angle. After examining the money trail, the ED would also investigate whether the money was routed to any foreign countries or shell companies. ED conducts searches at Anil Deshmukh’s college near Fetri

Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted searches at Nagpur Institute Of Technology (NIT) college at Mahurzari, near Fetri in Katol Tehsil in connection with its probe against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Statements of five persons were also recorded by the investigation agency in its Seminary hills office, officials said. The college is said to be controlled by Deshmukh. ED officials from Mumbai reached the institute around 12.30 pm and began the searches under the protection of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, the official said. A girl was abducted by two persons including her male friend who sought Rs 30 lakh ransom from her family on Friday morning. Over 20,274 hectares of crop damaged in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts

The three-days heavy rainfall (June 21 to June 23) has caused severe damage to over 20,274 hectares of crop in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts. Shockingly, 1964 hectares of agricultural land in 96 villages washed away due to flooding caused by the excessive rainfall, according to initial estimates by the State Agriculture Department in Nagpur. Crops like cotton, tur, soybean, maize and vegetables have reported the maximum hit due to the rains. The agriculture department is waiting for a final report after completion of panchanamas being done by officials of the Revenue Department. In Nagpur district, the excessive rains wreak havoc in 126 villages of Kamptee, Saoner, Kalmeshwar, Ramtek and Hingna tehsils where crops of cotton, tur, soybean, paddy, jowar and maize were severely damaged on 9,176.55 hectares. A man committed suicide in Raghuji Nagar area of Nagpur in the wee hours of Tuesday. The kin of the deceased alleged that he took the extreme step out of humiliation and depression after being thrashed by beat marshals of Hudkeshwar police station. Planting trees is a noble cause, seeing that they should survive is also important. Whopping 40-50 per cent trees do not survive in Nagpur district after annual tree plantation. Irregular watering, animals eating up plants and excessive heat are the reasons behind the 50-60 per cent survival ratio of plants. In addition, Forest officials pointed out shortage of funds as one of the major reasons behind dying of plants. “Shortage of funds after outbreak of Covid-19 is one of the major reasons behind the drop in survival ratio,” said senior official Geeta Nannaware of the Social Forestry Wing of State Forest Department. Minor forced to drink alcohol, gang-raped twice in a night

A teenage girl stepped out of her home after a quarrel with family members was allegedly held captive and gang-raped by six persons in two separate incidents. The accused allegedly forced her to consume liquor before the sexual exploitation on Thursday night, police officials said. Accused Mohd Shahnawaz alias Sana Mohd Rashid (25), Mohd Taushif Mohd Yusuf (26) and Mohd Mushir (23), all residents of Mominpura, were arrested by Government Railway Police (GRP) Nagpur and handed-over to Sitabuldi police. Green cover : Social Forestry Dept plants 1.11 lakh saplings this year as against zero plantation last year

The Social Forestry wing of the Forest Department has planted a whopping 1.11 lakh samplings of different varieties across the district and aimed to plant 1.30 lakh saplings in the remaining months of monsoon. The plantation not only helps the environment but also protects bunds and fields from overflowing rainwater, said Divisional officer Neeta Nannaware of the Social Forestry Department. Child pornography on rise : Maharashtra receives 11,122 reports of child pornography in 18 months

  Beware ! Your child could also fall prey to the evil world of child pornography which has emmerged as the major challenge for Maharashtra as whopping 11,122 instances of child sexual abuse content posted on-line have been received by Maharashtra Cyber in the form of ‘Tipline Reports’ from National Crime Record Bureaue (NCRB) in last 18 months. On the basis of these reports, a total of 213 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered in the State by various police units. Of them, 38 FIRs were registered by Nagpur police which are highest in the State.   “Child pornography mean an on-line content that depicts sexually explicit activities involving a child,” said Sanjay Shintre, Superitendent of Police (SP) Maharashtra Cyber. A 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Kapil Nagar residence. The police are suspecting he took the extreme step as he lost his job in March last year during lockdown. The deceased was identified as Kishankumar Balkishan Dongre, a resident of Flat No. 503, Gulmohar Apartment, Kapil Nagar. According to police, Kishan’s wife works in a company at Balaghat.
