A 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Kapil Nagar residence. The police are suspecting he took the extreme step as he lost his job in March last year during lockdown.
The deceased was identified as Kishankumar Balkishan Dongre, a resident of Flat No. 503, Gulmohar Apartment, Kapil Nagar.
According to police, Kishan’s wife works in a company at Balaghat. She lives there with her children. Kishan was a Medical Representative in a company in Nagpur. He lost the job last year during the first lockdown. Since then, he was jobless.
On Saturday evening, he tied a scarf to the fan and hanged himself. After some time, the scarf torn off and he fell on the floor. Meanwhile, a friend contacted him on his mobile phone. After not receiving any response, the friend went to the flat. As the door was locked from inside and Kishan was not not responding, he contacted the police. Kapil Nagar police rushed to the spot and broke open the door and found Kishan lying on the floor. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. A case of accidental death was registered by Kapil Nagar police. Further probe is on.
By Dheeraj Fartode Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit has rejected the report into the spat between Collector and Superintendent of Police in Bhandara, that had stirred hornet’s nest among the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in State. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Manu Kumar Srivastava was appointed by State Government to probe the matter and he had submitted the report to Government and made certain recommendations. One of the recommendation which Srivastava made was to delegated powers of writing annual confidential records (ACRs) of SP's to District Collector. This particular recommendation had the IPS cadre seething with anger as they claimed it an unwarranted intrusion on their powers.
