Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. By Dheeraj Fartode Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport and Safety Nitin Gadkari and people from all walks of life on Sunday paid rich tributes to Gowari martyrs at the memorial at Zero Mile on Sunday. Thousands of Gowari community members from across the state visited the memorial and paid their homage to 114 martyrs, who died in stampede 20 years ago.  Addressing a gathering after the paying tributes, Fadnavis said that the condition of Gowari community was same after 20 years. 60 mobile network towers to come up in Naxal hotbed; Intel, operations to get boost

By Dheeraj Fartode  To strengthen telecommunication network in Naxal hotbed of Maharashtra, Central Government has given its nod to erection of 60 mobile network towers in Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Chandrapur districts. Accordingly, State Home Department has constituted a monitoring committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary and seven members including Director General of Police. Mobile phone tower in maoist area Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has approved the project cost, and 60 towers are expected to be operationalised within 12 months. This is a part of the proposal cleared by Central Government in August 2014, to erect as many as 2,199 mobile network service towers in Naxal-affected areas of the country. Home Ministry had framed a policy of unified force in insurgency hit States last year By Dheeraj Fartode IN A major decision, the Government has decided to replace Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) to combat Naxals in Gadchiroli district of the State. Independence of the country marked an important watershed in the history of the Force which was renamed as Central Reserve Police Force. Criminal killed in full public view near Gandhisagar

By Dheeraj  Fartode An anti-social was gored by his rivals near Gandhisagar Lake in full public view on Sunday night. Four persons came in a four wheeler and chased Ganesh Baiju Gaur (30), a Bajeria resident, and killed him on spot after a brief interlude, which involved a dramatic chase as Gaur ran frantically to save himself from the clutches of his killers. The incident police said occurred around 8.30 pm. The incident spread panic in the area and frightened people ran away from the spot. A team of Ganeshpeth police arrived on scene after getting information about the murder. The deceased Gaur was known criminal. After gathering information from spot police reconstructed the scene and told newspersons that Guar came on a two wheeler at the filling station near Gandhisgar Lake.
