Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. VCA yet to clear Rs 3.19 crore dues of Rural Police

By Dheeraj Fartode Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) is yet to clear the dues for availing police bandobast for the security during T-20 and Test Cricket matches held during last few years. The figure of outstanding dues is whopping Rs 3.19 crores and remainders of district police force failed to entice any response from VCA officials.  According to information, Nagpur Rural Police provided security to IPL T-20 matches in the year 2010. The Rural Police had sent bill of Rs 2,30,33,821 to VCA the same year. However, VCA did not pay the amount. In the Test Match held in year 2015 too Rural Police provided bandobast and a bill for Rs 89,36,664 was dispatched to VCA. This bill is also outstanding. With such outstanding dues, the Nagpur Rural Police are contemplating whether to provide security in upcoming T-20 matches in March 2016. State to appoint law officers to secure conviction rate

City Police to appoint eight law officers soon Law officer will help police in all legal process By Dheeraj Fartode WITH an aim to secure conviction rate, the Maharashtra Police have decided to recruits law officers in all units across the state. The law officers would be appointed on contract basis after written examination and interviews. EoW to attach acestral properties of Wasankar

By Dheeraj Fartode Economic Offences Wing (EoW) will attach ancestral properties of Prashant Wasankar, a master mind of defrauding gullible investors and co-accused including his relatives if the recovery from Wasankar, other co-accused and beneficiaries will not reach to total money of investors.  Deputy Commissioner of Police (EoW) Deepali Masirkar told The Hitavada that EoW have recovered cash worth Rs 6.28 from beneficiaries. Rs 2.78 crore were recovered from three Mumbai based beneficiaries and Rs 1.5 crore from two Nagpur based beneficiaries. Rs 1 crore returned by D Y Patil International Sports Academy and Rs two crore recovered from city businessman Avinash Bhute.  Along with cash recovery, EoW has attached 21 properties of Wasankar couple. As on date, government valuation of the properties is Rs 18 crore and market prize of the properties is Rs 30 crore. D Y Patil sports academy returns Rs 1 cr received from Wasankar

Special MPID Court to hear matter on Feb 29  By Dheeraj Fartode  Under fire for accepting Rs One crore from Prashant Wasankar who is cooling heels behind bars for cheating gullible investors, D Y Patil Sports Academy has quietly returned this sum of Rs One crore to Economic Offences Wing (EoW) under protest. The academy had taken the money from Wasankar in form of donation in the year 2012-13. Earlier, the academy was not ready to return the money and conveyed the EoW that it was not possible under rules to pay back the amount. The Hitavada was first to publish the news -- “Wasankar donated Rs 3.4 crore to trusts of Vikhe Patil and DY Patil” on February 16, 2016. The D Y Patil sports academy had returned Rs one crore on February 22 under protest. The matter will come up in the special MPID court for hearing on February 29.  Two other charitable trusts including Pravara Medical Trust, DY Patil International Academy are also on EoW’s radar for recovery of Rs 2.40 crore. Crores invested with Mumbai builders  Cops trying to recover money from trusts  By Dheeraj Fartode Prashant Wasankar, presently cooling heels behind bar for duping thousands of gullible investors and who failed to return money to his investors, had donated Rs 3.40 crore in 2012-13 to three charitable trusts, connected to political big-wigs of then ruling alliance. The charitable trusts are Pravara Medical Trust, DY Patil International Academy and DY Patil Sports Academy related to present Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and former governor of Bihar and Congress leader D Y Patil. The investigating machinery is tracing the money diverted by Wasankar to various individuals and institutions and came across this politically sensitive information.
