Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. City police attaches Rs. 40 crore property of Jham builders

Property Cell of Nagpur City Police on Monday seized property of Jham Builders & Developers worth Rs 40 crore for delay in handing over possession of flats booked at its 30 acre township -- Kanhaiya City -- in Mouza Waghdhara, Hingna, area. The land where the builder had floated the scheme with under construction buildings have been attached by cops.  An offence against Hemant Sikandar Jham, Proprietor of Jham Builders and Developers, was registered at Sonegaon Police Station on October 19, 2015 under Sections 420, 406, 409, 34 of Indian Penal Code and Sections 3, 4, 8, 13, 14 of Maharashtra Ownership Flat Act 1963 after the builder delayed giving possession of flats and row houses in Kanhaiya City.  The builder had floated the scheme, Kanhaiya city on 30 acre land in year 2010. Jobless youths attempts to commit suicide at Jhanshi Rani square

Panic gripped at Jhansi Rani Square on Monday evening when a youth armed with Air Gun climbed Rani Jhansi Statue and threatened to commit suicide. However, timely action by a traffic constable stopped the drama.  The youth Sanjay Lalsingh Patel (27), a resident of Ishwarpur, Madhya Pradesh is now cooling heels behind bars at Sitabuldi Police Station. According to eye-witness, the youth climbed the statue at around 4 pm and took out the Air Gun from his bag. Soon after he started shouting be keeping the gun on his head. Hundreds of onlookers gathered the spot after seeing the youth.  Three traffic cops who were present in the square arrived the spot and asked him to handed-over the gun. Fire in oil godown. Representional picture A major fire broke out at two godown at Control Wadi, Shivaji Nagar, area late on Sunday night. The fire gutted goods worth lakh of rupees.  Such was the intensity of fire that Fire and Emergency Services personnel evacuated homes located behind the godown for safety. The flames were leaping high and could be seen from nearly a kilometre and hence all available fire tenders were requisitioned to help control the blaze.  As per primary information with Fire and Emergency Services of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, a call was received regarding necessity of fire tenders to help douse a big fire. The fire as per information started from a godown stocking edible oil. The presence of inflammable material only helped the flames to spread quite fast and a nearby godown stocked with perfumed too was engulfed by the fire within few minutes. Kalamna Police arrest a bike lifter, recovers 13 stolen motorcycles

Staff of Kalamna Police Station Kalamna Police arrested a motorcycle lifter and recovered 13 stolen motorcycles from his possession. The thief had stolen the motorcycles from Kalamna, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli and Nandanvan Police Station areas. The accused was stealing the bikes after making duplicate key of the motorcycle.  The accused has been identified as Ganesh Diwakar Lende (19), a resident of Pardi, Mahajanpur, Kalamna. Acting on tip-off, the police arrested the accused from Chikali Chowk and recovered a motorcycle. As Lende was not possessing documents of the motorbike, the cops took him to police station for interrogation. During police interrogation, Lende spilled the beans and confessed for 13 mobike thefts committed with a juvenile offender. The accused have stolen four motorcycles from Kalamna, two from Nandanvan, two from Lakadgan and one from Pachpaoli Police Station area. One killed, injured injured after protection wall of under construction hospital collapsed

Protection wall collapsed A protection wall in basement area of an under construction building collapsed on Sunday injuring about nine labourers who got trapped under the debris. Immediately after the mishap, fellow laborers showed presence of mind and undertook rescue operations thereby minimising adversity. The rescued labourers were in trauma and rushed to the hospital. Of them, two grievously injured are reportedly battling for life, four others have suffered multiple fractures and four other luckily escaped with minor injuries. The incident exposed violation of labour laws in construction sector as the workers on the jobs were not wearing safety gear although task allotted to them was quite dangerous. Police declare 18 spots of Dhantoli as ‘no parking zones’ on pilot basis

Acting on the stern directives issued by the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, the Nagpur Police on Friday notified 18 major overcrowded spots in Dhantoli area as ‘no parking zone’ and permitted only one way vehicular traffic movement in three lanes in an effort to minimise parking chaos and traffic congestion. This decision is on a pilot basis for one month and after assessing the impact and suggestion from citizens, same will be modified.  However, in absence of notified parking space for vehicles coming to Dhantoli area and non availability of a large open space and inability to utilise a major ground like one besides Indian Gymkhana, the proposed move of Traffic Police is likely to lead to major inconvenience to citizens.  Most of the lanes and by-lanes of Dhantoli have hospital and healthcare establishments where thousands throng every day. Truck driver killed in road mishap

A truck driver who was repairing puncture crushed to death by unidentified truck near Oriental Compnay on Ring Road in Nandanvan Police Station area in wee hours of Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kaithwar.  According to police, Kaithwar was transporting goods in truck (MH-40/H-6773) and the truck got punctured near the Oriental company in wee hours. When he was rectifying the puncture, an unidentified vehicle came from another side crushed to death Kaithwar. Sustaining grievous injuries, Kaithwar died on the spot without medical treatment. A woman strangled her husband to death and concocted a story of accidental death. The crime to fore after brother of the deceased approach the police and lodged a complaint against the woman. Finding of autopsy report also claimed ‘strangulation’ as the reason of death.  The deceased has been identified as Nitin Ramesh Nayar (27), a resident of Baitul, Madhya Pradesh while accused is Swati Nitin Nayar (25), a resident of Kerala.  Nitin’s father was admitted at Wockhardt hospital in last week of April and Nitin and Swati were staying at a rented room. After initiating action against land mafia across the city, the Property Cell is now spreading its dragnet on Government officials who allegedly colluded with land grabbers and abetted commitment of land frauds through preparation and approval of fabricated documents. Daredevil youth caught gang of robbers

A daredevil youth caught a gang of robbers who robbed his girlfriend near Police Talav in Gittikhadan area on Sunday.The accused have been identified as Shubham Dipak Bhageshwar (20), Ashotosh Santosh Menmale (20), Piyush Mahendra Mate (19), all are residents Sugat Nagar while the daredevil youth is -- Ganesh Bhade. According to police, victim Neha Sangole (22), a resident of Jaripatka was riding pillion on motorcycle of Bhade at 10.30 pm. The robbers came behind on motorycle and snatched away Neha’s purse and sped away from the spot. Bhade immediately accelerated his bike and chased the youth on ring road. Hubby arrested for murder of wife in MIDC area

In less than two days, the MIDC police cracked the Kartik Nagar murder case and arrested two persons including husband of the deceased. The deceased was identified as Anita Sanatkumar Sen-Tiwari (26) while accused are identified as Sanatkumar Dhnyanchand Sena (22) (husband) and Sashibhushan Munendra Sena (20), all are residents of Mankahari, Mannitola Tehsil, Riva, Madhya Pradesh. The husband suspected the woman of infidelity hence, murdered him and tried to destroy the evidence. However, local residents noticed the accused when they were transporting the body and raised an alarm.  Earlier, the couple was living in Jalgaon district. Sanatkumar closed his business there when he suspected wife’s extra marital affair with some men and returned to their village in Riva district. In first week of May, Sanatkumar hatched conspiracy to eliminate Anita and took her to Sashibhushan’s house at Kartik Nagar just two-days before on pretext of starting new business at Nagpur.

Anti-Corruption Wing of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) trapped a Inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and his writer for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 8,000 from a man who is accused in a Railway Act case. The trap was conducted at 4 pm when Inspector Unmeshkumar Charote and his writer constable Sunil Malkhede were at Nagbhid RPF station of South East Central Railway (SECR).  According to information, Arif Khan, a scrap dealer of Chandrapur is accused under Railway Act case for stealing railway property. “RPF seized an Over Head Wire (OHE) from house of Khan in November and offence was registered under Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966,” said Divisional Security Commandant (SECR) Ramkumar Dubey.  Khan was frequently called to RPF station during course of investigation. Indian National Captial -- New Delhi’s -- air pollution hit dangerous levels as the country celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights and firecrackers, stated report of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
