The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Kalamna Police arrested a motorcycle lifter and recovered 13 stolen motorcycles from his possession. The thief had stolen the motorcycles from Kalamna, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli and Nandanvan Police Station areas. The accused was stealing the bikes after making duplicate key of the motorcycle.
The accused has been identified as Ganesh Diwakar Lende (19), a resident of Pardi, Mahajanpur, Kalamna. Acting on tip-off, the police arrested the accused from Chikali Chowk and recovered a motorcycle. As Lende was not possessing documents of the motorbike, the cops took him to police station for interrogation. During police interrogation, Lende spilled the beans and confessed for 13 mobike thefts committed with a juvenile offender. The accused have stolen four motorcycles from Kalamna, two from Nandanvan, two from Lakadgan and one from Pachpaoli Police Station area.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone V Krishnakant Upadhyay, the arrest was made by Sr. PI Kalamna Mahesh Chate, APIs Arvind Pawar, Sanjay Dube and staff including Dashrath Mishra, Surendra Chaurpagar, Prashant Savaithul, Dinesh Yadav, Dinesh Lanjewar, Vijay Yadav and Raju Jadhav.
