Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Traffic police attach jammer to a wrongly parked car with red beacon

A senior traffic police officer informed ‘The Hitavada’ that the car (MH-31/CA-3726) was taken on rent by District administration on Thursday for a Member of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The driver Milind Kamble (30), a resident of Paradsinga, dropped the officer at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in the evening. However the driver did not remove the red beacon and continue to drive the car in the city. At the same time, the court did not find anything incriminating against other 13 persons nabbed including 10 college students and released them on personal surety of Rs 3,000 each. On Sunday, cops had arrested 18 girls, 27 boys and seven staff members including hotel owners during a surprise raid against an unauthorised party and seized large quantity of liquor and many youngsters in an inebriated condition. Cops have initiated the action against the Hotel owner since he did not had Bar license By Dheeraj Fartode Rave party at Nagpur Crime Branch sleuths on Sunday busted a DJ party at Laiguna Blu, an upscale joint at Vaishnodevi Square on Central Avenue under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj police station, and detained 18 girls and 27 boys who were part of the party. The police booked the hotel owner and 14 others for organising party and serving liquor without license. Police also seized 50 bottles of high end wine and beer worth Rs 2 lakh. Kuhi gang-rape case: Main accused still at large after seven months

Kuhi gang-rape case By Dheeraj Fartode EVEN after seven months the main accused in Kuhi gang-rape case is still at large. The case that had created sensation across Maharashtra this January has now been put on the backburner by the police machinery. It’s work as usual for the cops. Six accused had gang-raped an 18-year-old girl at a farmhouse in Kuhi tehsil on January 18 and decamped with booty from six other houses. The incident had created flutter keeping the rural police on their toes. Senior police officers including Special Inspector General of Police (Nagpur Range) Rajender Singh and Superintendent of Police Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma had also camped at Kuhi police station.
