Traffic police on Thursday attached a jammer to a car with red beacon as it was parked in a No Parking zone on West High Court (WHC) road.
A senior traffic police officer informed ‘The Hitavada’ that the car (MH-31/CA-3726) was taken on rent by District administration on Thursday for a Member of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The driver Milind Kamble (30), a resident of Paradsinga, dropped the officer at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in the evening. However the driver did not remove the red beacon and continue to drive the car in the city. He also parked the car in no-parking area opposite Haldiram’s restaurant at Shankar Nagar Square, thinking no one will dare to take action. On duty traffic cops noticed the vehicle and immediately put a jammer to the car. The officer further informed that traffic movement was affected due to the car and the driver called the policeman after one hour. It can be mentioned that district administration have not enough number of cars hence they book a car on rent from different agencies. However, it was observed that many car drivers do not remove the beacon after the officer has left for his place. As per the Motor Vehicle Act, a beacon can be put on the car only when the officer is present in the vehicle. Cops issued a challan to the car driver under section 122 and 201 of Motor Vehicle Act (MVA).
