Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. JMFC summons Sitabuldi PI Bandiwar to appear before court

By Dheeraj Fartode JUDICIAL Magistrate First Class (JMFC) J R Ghadge on Saturday directed senior Police Inspector of Sitabuldi Police Station Satyajit Bandiwar and Investigating officer (IO) PSI K R Gavai to appear before the court and give written explanation as to what led them to breach the landmark verdict of the Supreme court in the case of Arnesh Kumar versus State of Bihar. According to Harishwar Mendhre, Sitabuldi cops tore his shirt at Rani Jhansi Square for not wearing helmet while riding a two-wheeler. Following the humiliation, a heated exchange of words took place between the cops and Mendhre. The cops took Mendhre to Sitabuldi Police Station and booked him under Sections 353, 332 and 294 of IPC.
