Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. Crime Branch sleuths on Sunday busted a DJ party at Laiguna Blu, an upscale joint at Vaishnodevi Square on Central Avenue under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj police station, and detained 18 girls and 27 boys who were part of the party. The police booked the hotel owner and 14 others for organising party and serving liquor without license. Police also seized 50 bottles of high end wine and beer worth Rs 2 lakh.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena informed that the cops have initiated the action against the Hotel owner since he did not had Bar license. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sunil Kolhe said that the party was hosted by Rajendrasingh Laxmansingh Genan, the owner, and he charged Rs 700 as entry fee. Rajendrasingh circulated SMS to promote the party among youths, the DCP added.

The party started around 2 pm and as cops got whiff a team of Crime Branch led by Sr. Police Inspector Madhav Giri swooped at the Hotel and rounded-up the youths. Cops brought 18 girls and 27 boys to Crime Branch office in Civil Lines. Cops conducted breath analyser tests of detained youths to check whether they are in inebriated condition or not which are being analysed.
Sources informed that the youths were dancing on floor while DJ sound was on full blast when cops forced entry in the Hotel. The Hotel owner organises such parties every month. An office bearer of a local Transporters Association also reached the venue on learning about the police raid and tried to stall the action. Police booked the accused under Bombay Police Act and Prohibition Act. Police Inspector Ramkrishna Mahalle and others were part of the team.
