By Dheeraj Fartode Shocking allegations of misconduct have emerged against a police officer in Nagpur City Police. The officer is accused of abusive and degrading behaviour, particularly targeting accused in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sources claim that the senior officer arrives at the police station and calls the accused into a separate room, where the officer not only hurls abuse at the accused but also spits at their face. Later, the officer allegedly kicks the accused in the private parts. In some incidents, when a couple approached a police station in Nagpur to file a complaint following a domestic dispute, the police sent a proposal for preventive action to the officer. However, instead of handling the matter professionally, the officer allegedly made the man sit down, then kicked him in the private parts and leave him in pain and humiliation. Panic gripped at Jhansi Rani Square on Monday evening when a youth armed with Air Gun climbed Rani Jhansi Statue and threatened to commit suicide. However, timely action by a traffic constable stopped the drama. The youth Sanjay Lalsingh Patel (27), a resident of Ishwarpur, Madhya Pradesh is now cooling heels behind bars at Sitabuldi Police Station. According to eye-witness, the youth climbed the statue at around 4 pm and took out the Air Gun from his bag. Soon after he started shouting be keeping the gun on his head. Hundreds of onlookers gathered the spot after seeing the youth.
Three traffic cops who were present in the square arrived the spot and asked him to handed-over the gun. However, the youth did not responded the police and was continuously threatening to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, two traffic cops engaged the youth in discussion and another traffic cop -- Vipul Surwade -- climbed the statue from back side and caught the youth. The cop immediately took the gun in possession and thrashed him and handed-over to Sitabuldi Police Station.
A police officer informed that the youth was a farmer and under debt burden. Last week, a Police Officer of Madhya Pradesh beaten him up in the police station for some reasons and threatened for life. He arrived Nagpur and attempted to commit the suicide after not getting a job.
