Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. New SP (Rural) Anant Rokde to stress upon community policing

Community policing will be the main thrust of policing of Anant Rokde, newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nagpur Rural. “Efforts would be made to ensure feel of security among the residents of district especially Kamptee and Kanhan. Hence, concept of ‘Mohalla committee’ would be implemented in sensitive areas,” said SP Rokde.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Rokde said that maintaining communal harmony, check on illegal sand mining and transportation, check on illegal public transport are on his top priority. “I have conducted a crime meeting recently and asked all officers to keep the agenda in their mind,” said Rokde. 
Informing about Kamptee SDPO had made presentation of communal riots and current situation in Kamptee and Kanhan area during the crime meeting, Rokde informed that on the lines of ‘Mohalla committee’ concept which was successfully implemented in riot-hit Bhiwandi, the Rural Police would also implement the concept at Kamptee and Kanhan so that people could feel sense of security, said Rokde. 

Joint action against illegal sand mining 

On the issue of illegal sand excavation and transportation, Rokde said that he met District Collector Sachin Kurve in this regard. The District Collector is ready to address a meeting of all senior police officers so that the officers could learn about current situation sand ghat auction. RTO, District mining officer and Rural Police would jointly launched action against illegal sand mining and transportation soon, he said.  

Farm houses on radar of Rural Police

When journalist informed Rokde about illegal activities run by anti-social elements in farm houses, Rokde assured that a detail report about farm houses in the district would be made. All Police Stations would be directed to put check on any illegal activities in the farm house, he said. 

SDPO will take action against illegal public transport

On the issue illegal public transport in the district, SP Rokde said that SDPO have power to suspend the registration of any vehicle if the vehicle involved in the illegal public transport. “I will direct all SDPOs for stern action against such transport,” he said. On the issue of road fatalities in district, the SP claimed that Rural Police have identified 156 accident prone points and district collector has assured the police for help to corrective measures at the points.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
