Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. Arrested gangster Santosh Ambekar used to cast fear on his ‘targets’ with the help of negative publicity against him in media. He also used to take help of videos uploaded on You Tube by news channels.
Additional Commissioner of Nilesh Bharne informed The Hitavada that Ambekar had targeted businessmen living in Gujarat and Mumbai area. He cheated hundreds of business persons in the fake land deals. When the victims came to get back their money, Ambekar was used to ask them to just google his name. “After going through information available on news websites and videos available on You Tube instill fear among would be complaint, said Bharne.
“We are going to break this fear about Ambekar. People should approach us with their complaints and the city police would definitely help the victim,” assured Bharne and added that the police would teach lesson to every criminal in the city.
The police have seized five cars, motorcycle and a chair made of silver f collectivelly worth Rs 2.51 crore from the house of Ambekar. MCOCA was invoked against Ambekar and his 11 accomplices last week by Crime Branch for duping a businessman of Rs five crore in a property deal and also issuing threats to him for extortion of Rs one crore. Soon after, a series of offences were registered against him within a fortnight at Lakadganj, Ambazari, Sonegaon and Tehsil police station.
Along with Ambekar, Nilesh Kedar (34), Darodkar Chowk; Chandan Choudhary (44), Mumbai; Juhi Choudhary (39), Mumabi; Ankit Patel (31), Gujarat; Ajay Patel (39), Mumbai and Rajendra Armarkar (53), Sitabuldi were arrested by the police so far.
The cops have also seized Rs 13.66 lakh cash from Juhi Choudhary, Rs 45 lakh cash from Arvind Patel, currency counting machine from Ajay Patle and Rs 84 lakh cash from gold ornaments worth Rs 1.36 lakh from Rajendra Armarkar. It means that the police have seized properties worth Rs 5.30 crore including Rs 1.42 crore cash.
Ambekar was first time arrested by police this month for duping a businessman of Rs five crore in a property deal and also issuing threats to him for extortion of Rs one crore. The complaint was lodged against Ambekar by Jigar Pareshbhai Patel, a resident of Kapadvanj, District - Kheda, Gujarat with Sitabuldi police on Saturday accusing Ambekar and his accomplices for duping him of Rs five crore and demanding extortion of Rs one crore.
