Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Fog hits rail traffic on Grand-Trunk route and Howrah-Mumbai route

Rail traffic remained disrupted on Saturday due to heavy fog. Several trains on both Grand-Trunk route and Howrah-Mumbai route are running late by several hours. Gondwana Express is the worst affected train, which is running late 20 hours behind schedule.
A senior railway official said that the impact of fog is most severe on trains moving through north India. 12406 Nizamuddin-Bhusawal Gondawana express is running 20 hours behind schedule. 12724 New Delhi-Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh Express, 12409 Raigarh-H Nizamuddin Gondawana Express, 12723 Hyderabad-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express are running late by 10 hours. 02746 Puri-Shree Sai Nagar Special Express, 12616 New Delhi-Chennai Central Express, 12295 Banglore-Patna Sampark Kranti Express,  12296 Patna-Bangalore Sanghamitra Express, 12616 New Delhi-Chennai GT Express are reaching 8 hours late at Nagpur station.
Several other trains which were running late were 16688 Jammu Tawi-Tirunelveli Navyug Express, 12615 Chennai-New Delhi Grand Trunk Express, 12621 Chennai -New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express, 12622 New Delhi-Chennai Tamil Nadu Express, 12540 Lakhnau-Yashvantpur Express, 12722 H Nizamuddin-Vishakhapattanam Dakshin Express, 12834 Howrah-Ahemdabad Express, 12650 H Nizamuddin-Yashvantpur Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express.
Though late run of trains has become routine every year during fog, railways has failed to devise any solution through technology.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
