28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Shiv Sena MLAs protested for action aginst police officers for Akot riot

Shiv Sena and BJP MLA on Thursday protested at staircase of legislative assembly demanding stern action against guilty police officers involved in Akot riot.

 Gopikishan Bajoria, Gowardhan Sharma are 
protesting at stair-case of Legislative assembly  

The MLAs gathered at stair-case and launched sloganeering against police officers of Akot police station. MLA Sanjay Gawande said that an idol of Goddess Durga had been desecrated at Akot by anti-social elements on October 19. The police did not initiate any action against the culprits. The riot was broken out during a procession carrying idol of Goddess Durga for immersion, he said. MLA Ranjit Patil said that anti-social elements pelted stones on procession and many people were injured in the attack. However, only office-bearers of Hindu organisations were booked by the police. MLA captain Abhijit Adsul demanded un-biased inquiry and stern action against guilty police officers.
MLAs Gopikishan Bajoria, Gowardhan Sharma were also took part in the agitation.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
