Deceased Mitthu alias Shital Gopal Singh (30), a resident of Kanhan Colliery was also an accused in double murder case in 2009. Court had sentenced him to life in the case. However, he was later acquitted by the High Court while allowing his appeal. A senior police officer informed that Mitthu was trying to establish his supremacy in the area and had physically assaulted many persons including his rival goons. The ballots would be major factor in deciding fate of MLA in 12 constituencies of city and district. Postal ballot are meant for those on polling duty during the time of election while service ballot are meant for personnel working in armed forces. Ajay Ramteke, Deputy District Returning Officer told ‘The Hitavada’ that after receiving applications for service ballots from Regiment Headquarters, the district election commission had dispatched 3,312 service ballots. Total 28,000 government employees including 5,000 policemen were deployed for the election process in entire Nagpur District. The girl has been admitted to city hospital as she sustained critical injuries due to this heinous crime committed by a perverse minded man. The accused has been identified as Vasanta Urkuda Gaikwad (38), a resident of Channa village of Kuhi taluka. Vasanta is a farmer and has been arrested by cops. By Dheeraj Fartode FLYING Squad of Election Commission, monitoring  the implementation of Model Code of Conduct and expenditure for Legislative Assembly elections, intercepted a Maruti Swift car near Mahal (in Kotwali Police Station area) and seized  Rs 70 lakh unaccounted cash from it, besides detaining two persons for interrogation in this connection on Thursday. Acting on a tip off, the Flying Squad blocked the car near Jagnade Square in the afternoon. During the search, the squad members found a bag containing cash in the utility box of the car. Flying Squad members took the cash along with the Maruti Swift car (MH-31/CR-908) and its driver to Kotwali Police Station. The seizure of cash created quite a sensation in political circles. Despite deployment of a huge police posse, protesters including men, women and children pelted stones and torched vehicles. Several cars and two wheelers were damaged by the mob. Identified as Rajkumari Uikey (24), the deceased was a resident of village Brahmani. Rajkumari’s husband Rajan Ratilal Uikey (28), a native of Gangatola, district Seoni (Madhya Pradesh) used to work as a labourer at Ravindra Bhelkar’s farm. Often, Rajan used to quarrel with Rajkumari over petty issues.  Rajan picked up a quarrel with his wife. When Rajkumari started arguing with him, Rajan lost his temper.
