Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. What remained was a blackened debris all around - almost nothing to suggest a home once stood there. Nikesh earns his living as an agricultural labourer, like many in the village. Work is uncertain and depends on the season. Those earrings weren’t just jewellery - they were a small dream, a reward for his hard work,...
Republican leader said main target is to keep Congress-NCP from grabbing power and hence if needed will talk to Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray to seek support

President of Republican Party of India (RPI-A), Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday did not rule out post poll alliance with Shiv Sena, though he appeared confident of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led alliance sweeping the assembly election in Maharashtra. “The alliance would emerge as the single largest group after the election and RPI's role would be crucial in formation of next government,” Athawale affirmed.
Addressing a press conference before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally, the RPI leader said he would cement the post poll alliance and claimed to have good relations with Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray. Our target is to keep Congres-NCP out of power in the State. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is non entity and hence need not factor in any future role in next Government.
Teasing MNS chief Raj Thackeray, Athawale said that instead of aping him, Raj should try for a role in the movies as latter is a good at mimicry. He further claimed that MNS would win not more than seven assembly seats in the assembly election.
Athawale further claimed that BJP national president Amit Shah had assured him a berth in Union Ministry along with 10% quota in State Government if BJP forms next Government. Supporting demand of statehood for Vidarbha, he said the new State would be carved out of Maharashtra within three-years if BJP-RPI alliance is voted to power. Bhupesh Thulkar, Anil Gondane, Rajan Waghmare, Balu Gharde, Dr Manoj Meshram, Ravi Shende and Raju Bahadure were present at the press conference.
