Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. With only son based in USA, elderly couple commits suicide

Only son of Mohril couple is settled in USA as ill health and loneliness forced the couple to end lives, feel police

In a heart wrenching incident, a couple whose only son is settled in USA, ended lives in a suicide pact in Swalambai Nagar area apartment on Sunday. The Mohril couple's deteriorating health along with loneliness seems to have weighed in their joint decision to commit suicide. The incident has sent shock waves in the locality.

Rana Pratap Nagar police identified the deceased couple as Deepak Bhimrao Mohril (68) and Vasanti (61), residents of Ashirwad Nagar. The two consumed poison on Sunday morning in their 2BHK apartment triggering grief among the residents of area as issue of care of old aged parents have came to fore. Such couples or single parent whose wards have immigrated to USA or other western countries number many in West Nagpur localities.

A maid servant arrived at the home for daily work and knocked on the door. She called  a driver after Mohril couple did not respond to repeated knockings. The driver broke open the door as the two sensed that the elderly couple may have fallen ill. However the sight that greeted them inside the flat left them stunned as two stumbled upon lifeless bodies of Mohrils'. The couple was spralwed on a bed in one of the bedroom. The driver immediately informed police and staff of Rana Pratap Nagar police station rushed to the spot for investigations. 

A senior police officer informed that the couple had consumed poison to commits suicide. The Mohrils were frustrated with deteriorating health, although they were financially sound. The prospect of living alone in case any one of them dies first finally weighed heavily and the two must have entered into suicide pact.

Police said inquiry with maid that Mohrils were not keeping good health and even their movement got restricted due to aged related issues. The maid used to come in morning and evening hours to cook food. Mohril's son is settled in USA.  The cops were also unable to contact close relatives of the couple as Mohril had no relatives in the city. The police have informed the son about the death. The police have registered a case of accidental death and started investigations.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
