Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. Former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Thursday fired a salvo at Congress and ex-Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for breaking alliance and unnecessarily putting NCP Ministers in the dock. Congress leaders were determined to break the alliance and ignoring the seat-sharing talks they unilaterally declared their list which clearly indicates their pre-decided plan, he said.
Addressing a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan, Anwar also criticised the slow decision making style of ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan which led to pendency of file and delay in implementing pro-people decision. Due to such inept handling, Congress will face people’s ire in the election, he predicted. NCP Candidate for South Nagpur Dinanath Padole, NCP city chief Ajay Patil and others were present.
Anwar also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blaming NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar for farmers suicides in Maharashtra. Even in Gujarat farmers’ committed suicide, he pointed out.
He predicted impressive performance by NCP during ensuing assembly election. About debacle of NCP in Lok Sabha elections, Anwar claimed that history of LS polls would not be repeated in the assembly elections.
