IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. He uncovered a state-wide kidney transplant racket in Akola and, as DCP in Nagpur, dismantled organized crime syndicates through MCOCA and MPDA cases. Anwar slams Congress for snapping ties with NCP

Former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Thursday fired a salvo at Congress and ex-Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for breaking alliance and unnecessarily putting NCP Ministers in the dock. Congress leaders were determined to break the alliance and ignoring the seat-sharing talks they unilaterally declared their list which clearly indicates their pre-decided plan, he said.

Addressing a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan, Anwar also criticised the slow decision making style of ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan which led to pendency of file and delay in implementing pro-people decision. Due to such inept handling, Congress will face people’s ire in the election, he predicted. NCP Candidate for South Nagpur Dinanath Padole, NCP city chief Ajay Patil and others were present. 

Anwar also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blaming NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar for farmers suicides in Maharashtra. Even in Gujarat farmers’ committed suicide, he pointed out. 
He predicted impressive performance by NCP during ensuing assembly election. About debacle of NCP in Lok Sabha elections, Anwar claimed that history of LS polls would not be repeated in the assembly elections.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha. It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza.
