28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Anwar slams Congress for snapping ties with NCP

Former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Thursday fired a salvo at Congress and ex-Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for breaking alliance and unnecessarily putting NCP Ministers in the dock. Congress leaders were determined to break the alliance and ignoring the seat-sharing talks they unilaterally declared their list which clearly indicates their pre-decided plan, he said.

Addressing a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan, Anwar also criticised the slow decision making style of ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan which led to pendency of file and delay in implementing pro-people decision. Due to such inept handling, Congress will face people’s ire in the election, he predicted. NCP Candidate for South Nagpur Dinanath Padole, NCP city chief Ajay Patil and others were present. 

Anwar also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blaming NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar for farmers suicides in Maharashtra. Even in Gujarat farmers’ committed suicide, he pointed out. 
He predicted impressive performance by NCP during ensuing assembly election. About debacle of NCP in Lok Sabha elections, Anwar claimed that history of LS polls would not be repeated in the assembly elections.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
