Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Indian Railway safe from Naxal menace : IG RPF

Indian railway train in naxal affected area  Chief Security Commandant of Central Railway and Inspector General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Anil Sharma assured train passengers about their safety from naxal menace. “Despite of several major naxal attack on police in naxal affected area, Indian railway is safe from the naxals,” said Sharma. IG Sharma was on special visit of Nagpur division of central railway on Thursday. He supervised security arrangements at Nagpur station and then went to Chandrapur station on Thursday evening. Secundarabad-Patna Express detained for two hours over malfunctioning of AC

Detained 12791 Secundarabad-Patna Express at platform no 1 of Nagpur railway station. As the passengers got irate over malfunctioning of Air Conditioner of AC coach of train, 12791 Secundarabad-Patna Express was detained at Nagpur Railway Station for around 2 hours on Wednesday.Divisional officers of Central Railway assured the passengers to repair the fault in running train, but the passengers were not in position to hear urge of the officers and created scene at the railway station. AC of B1 coach of the train was malfunctioning from source station and passengers were demanded repair of AC at every station. Following the incident, five superfast trains were controlled at various railway stations four around two hours.  A railway officer said that a pentograph of the train, which is an apparatus mounted on the roof of an electric train to collect power through contact with an overhead equipment, got damaged at around 5 pm, when the train was running between Sindhi-Borkhedi stations. As electric supply for the train was stopped, loco pilot of the train relayed the information to operating control room of central railway, Nagpur Division. The widening probe into IPL spot-fixing scandal saw Delhi Police swooping down on three city bookies, including one former Vidarbha player. The trio were netted from Aurangabad and police said, the three were having crucial link in the scandal. One more former Vidarbha Ranji player, who now represents Indian Railways, was also named by the police and said he was absconding. The three were identified as Manish Guddewar (32), a former player of Vidarbha, and bookies Sunil Bhatia (44), a resident of Kadbi Square, and Kiran Dole (42), a resident of Raj Nagar. The trio were picked up from Aurangabad in an early morning raid.
