Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Minister’s son thrashed by angry mob at Ambazari

A top functionary of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress was involved in a fracas at Ram Nagar Square under the jurisdiction of Ambazari police station. Kunal Raut, General Secretary, State Youth Congress, and son of Dr Nitin Raut, Maharashtra Minister of EGS, and his friends were at the spot. Around same time, Vattamal Thomas Abraham (21), a IIIrd Year student of Priyadarshani College of Engineering, came to drop off his friend, who lived near the  Square. Abraham was on the four wheeler and when he tried to move out of the lane, he found two to three four wheelers blocking the road. Kalamna police on Tuesday nabbed a gang of robbers and seized sharp edged weapons and stolen valuables worth Rs 1.15 lakh from their possession. Interestingly, the team leader Eknath, married three months ago and spent lavishly on his marriage party and purchased many costly goods for his newly wed wife. But his party has been spoiled by the cops who smelled foul when a man of modest means like Eknath spent money quite liberally and on a tip-off, the cops rounded him and his partners in crime. Thieves walks away with booty from police officer's residence

Police are meant to protect properties of civilians from thieves. But now thieves seems to be getting better of the law enforcers and they are now not making any difference between the two. On Saturday night, unidentified thieves struck at the house of a Sub-Inspector of Umrer police station when the officer was on patrolling in the town. Thieves walked away with gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 1.4 lakh from the residence of officer and also stole his bi-cycle from. The theft police said occurred at Jindal complex, where Sub-Inspector Ajay Kishor Mankar (31) resides. He was on duty while Mankar’s wife and mother-in-law were fast asleep. The intruders gained by opening the lock of main door with duplicate keys and left officer poorer by Rs. 1.4 lakh. Umrer police have registered a case under sections 357 and 380 of IPC. Theft at house of minister's relative

Burglars struck at the residence of mother-in-law of EGS Minister Nitin Raut. The theft was reported by Kamlabai Sakhre at whose house the thieves stole gold ornaments and other valuables collectively worth Rs 36,000. The incident was reported from Panchpaoli police station in wee hours of Thursday.  In her complaint, Sakhre (65), a resident of Tukdoji Nagar, said that she had taken tablet for blood pressure and left the door open for her son Subodh. Subodh came home late in night and door remain opened. Grabbing the opportunity the intruders gained entered in house and walk away with gold ornaments and valuables. Police have registered a case under sec. 380 of IPC and have started investigation.
