Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. 15 goats run over by train

The goats run over by train lying in the bushes.  A herd of goats was mowed down by a train at Borgaon Khurd village of Kalmeshwar tehsil on Saturday.  According to information, more than 25 goats were crossing the railway line when a speeding train mowed them down in the evening. The train was moving at the speed of 90 km/hour. Famer Harshal Dhole, a resident of Borgaon Khurd village was distressed following the incident as it has resulted in a loss of around two lakh to him. The hit was so powerful that the goats were thrown in the bushes. Many of them were crushed under the wheels of the train. A total of 15 goats were killed in the accident.  A large number of villagers were gathered at the spot. The villagers demanded compensation to the farmer. Give rent to farmers, Bawankule to VIDC

The Project Affected People (PAPs) of Gosekhurd, whose land have taken by the government but acquisition not fully completed, have been rehabilitated within periphery of 25 km. Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule ordered Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) to give rent of the acquired land to these farmers. A meeting was held on Wednesday in which MLAs Bachhu Kadu, Ramchand Awsare, District Collector Ashwin Mudgal were present.  In this project, 1204 hectares of land in Nagpur district and 884 hectares of land in Bhandara district have been proposed for land acquisition and a proposal has been sent to the government.  Once the water of Gosekhurd reaches level 244, the administration would understand the problems that would be faced by the villagers and PAPs. Enjoying fruits of mediation in cities, but difficult in rural areas

Youth murdered by friend for Rs 2,000

A youth was brutally murdered by his friend for not returning borrowed money worth Rs 2,000 in MIDC police station area. The body was hid under bricks near SRPF compound in Jaitala area.  The accused has been identified as Ajinkya Rajesh Telgote (19), a resident of Ramai Ambedkar Nagar, Jaitala while deceased is - Roshan Rajesh Nagrale (19), a resident of Gayatri Nagar. According to police, Ajinkya and Roshan were close friends. Ajinkya had lent Rs 2,000 to Roshan two months ago. However, Roshan failed to return the money due to his financial condition. This irked Ajinkya and he was used to pick quarrel with him over the issue. The duo picked a fight on Monday at 11 pm in which Ajinkya attacked Roshan with an iron rod. Maruti Brezza set on fire in Nandanvan

Two goons torched a car Maruti Brezza car of a woman in Nandanvan area in wee hours of Tuesday. Bina Dilip Bashru (46), a resident Plot No. 592, Deshpande lay-out, near Hanuman temple had parked the car (MH-49/BB-7559) near the house. She along with family members were in slumber when the incident occurred at 3.30 am. Unidentified goons torched the car after pouring petrol over it. The car was badly damaged in the incident. Cops bust mobile theft racket, recover 19 phones

Staff of Pachpaoli police station with  arrested accused and seized mobile phones.  A gang of mobile thieves was busted by Pachpaoli police and recovered 19 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 2.70 lakh from their possession. The accused have stolen more than 200 mobile phones in last two years and disposed of in the Hydarabad.  The accused have been identified as Rupesh Vijay Kshirsagar (20) and Rajesh Baburao Meshram (18), both residents of Pawansut Nagar, Hudkeshwar.  According to police, the accused came under the police scanner when they had stolen a mobile phone of Sohel Jami Qureshi (22), a resident of Asi Nagar, on February 21. Sohel had gone to Jaswant Tuli mall where the theft took place.  During investigation, the police identified the accused and picked them from the residence. Man dies after motorcycle skids on road

A man was died after his motorcycle skidded on the Teka Naka road in Pachpaoli area.  The deceased was identified as Harish Shamalal Dahel (30), a resident of NIT Quarter B/71, Nari Road, Jaripatka. According to police, Dahel was passing through Teka Naka road on Monday at 1 pm when his motorcycle skidded. He sustained severe head injuries in the mishap. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries on Thursday at 12.21 am.
