Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Cops book a man for extortion

Sitabuldi Police have booked a man on extortion charges. The accused -- Munna Yadav -- posed him a journalist and demanded money from Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Sandip Namdeo Kshirsagar.  Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) S. B. Danade informed that the ACF Kshirsagar had received a call on mobile phone on Friday. During conversation, the accused introduced himself as a journalist and asked money for the newspaper. When Khirsagar refused to do so, the accused abused him and threatened him. Kshirsagar lodged a complaint at Sitabuldi Police Station and submitted call recordings to the police. The cops have booked the accused under Sections 385, 294, 504 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.

Truck driver killed in road mishap

A truck driver who was repairing puncture crushed to death by unidentified truck near Oriental Compnay on Ring Road in Nandanvan Police Station area in wee hours of Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kaithwar.  According to police, Kaithwar was transporting goods in truck (MH-40/H-6773) and the truck got punctured near the Oriental company in wee hours. When he was rectifying the puncture, an unidentified vehicle came from another side crushed to death Kaithwar. Sustaining grievous injuries, Kaithwar died on the spot without medical treatment. Wife murders husband, concocted story of accidental death

A woman strangled her husband to death and concocted a story of accidental death. The crime to fore after brother of the deceased approach the police and lodged a complaint against the woman. Finding of autopsy report also claimed ‘strangulation’ as the reason of death.  The deceased has been identified as Nitin Ramesh Nayar (27), a resident of Baitul, Madhya Pradesh while accused is Swati Nitin Nayar (25), a resident of Kerala.  Nitin’s father was admitted at Wockhardt hospital in last week of April and Nitin and Swati were staying at a rented room. Property cell books seven persons including 3 Revenue officials in Nara land grab case

After initiating action against land mafia across the city, the Property Cell is now spreading its dragnet on Government officials who allegedly colluded with land grabbers and abetted commitment of land frauds through preparation and approval of fabricated documents. Daredevil youth caught gang of robbers

A daredevil youth caught a gang of robbers who robbed his girlfriend near Police Talav in Gittikhadan area on Sunday.The accused have been identified as Shubham Dipak Bhageshwar (20), Ashotosh Santosh Menmale (20), Piyush Mahendra Mate (19), all are residents Sugat Nagar while the daredevil youth is -- Ganesh Bhade. According to police, victim Neha Sangole (22), a resident of Jaripatka was riding pillion on motorcycle of Bhade at 10.30 pm. The robbers came behind on motorycle and snatched away Neha’s purse and sped away from the spot. Bhade immediately accelerated his bike and chased the youth on ring road. In a hurry, the robbers failed to control their bike and fell on the road. Bhade immediately bused the robbers and informed police. Aggrieved investors of Maitreya Plotters and Structure Pvt Ltd on Monday met Joint Commissioner of Police (Joint CP) Shivajirao Bodkhe and alleged that the company have duped thousands of investors. The delegation have also lodged a complaint at Dhantoli Police Station against the compnay.  Madhusudan and his wife Varsha Satpalkar floated Maitreya Services Pvt Ltd on December 21, 1998. They bagan luring people to invest money in their company and assured good returns. In October 2003, when Madhusudhan passed away, Varsha became the managing director of the company. They appointed agents who would encourage people to invest in the company and promised returns in either cash or land after maturity of their invested amount. Fearless : 1,100 complaints submitted against Gwalbansi

Aggrieved land owners are openely coming out against real estate gangland and complaints are pouring at Special Investigation Team (STI). So far, massive 1,100 complaints have been received by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) against the gang and 16 First Investigation Reports (FIRs) have been lodged at various police station of city.
