Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Like ordinary consumers, police establishment got a rude jolt on Monday evening, when outgoing calls of all land-line phones were temporarily suspended for non-payment of bills.   By Dheeraj Fartode What is the most basic requirement for effective policing ? As a result City Police on Monday had to face ignominy of discontinuation of outgoing facility of all its landline phones. Step-father arrested for raping daughter

By Dheeraj Fartode Wadi police have booked step father for allegedly exploiting an 11-year-old girl at his residence on Sunday. Cops have registered the case after the complaint was lodged by his wife. Accused of this heinous crime has been identified as Krishna Anantrao Deshmukh (33), a resident of Suraburlid slum area, Wadi. Assistant Police Inspector (API) Murlidhar Pachorkar said that on Sunday morning, a brawl broke out between accused and his wife. Deshmukh thrashed his wife and reportedly abused her. Dejected over husband’s behaviour, the woman left her home at morning hours. She returned home at 4 pm and was shocked and stunned to see her husband and daughter in compromising position. FCI guard found murdered with 45 stabs

By Dheeraj Fartode Shock and sensation prevailed in MIDC Hingna area when the body of Madhukar Sadashiv Rane, a security guard with the Food Corporation of India (FCI), was found lying in a pool of blood oozing from nearly 45 deep stabs, on Thursday. A resident of plot no 32, Central MIDC road, Rajgruha Nagar, 50-year-old Rane was on night duty on Wednesday. When an FCI worker opened the godown on Thursday morning, he found Madhukar dead and lying in a pool of blood. He called MIDC Police immediately and alerted other officers of Warehousing Corporation about the incident. The cops conducted panchanama and sent the badly mutilated body to Government Medical College and Hospital for post mortem. Primary investigations revealed that the murder may have taken place between midnight Wednesday and wee hours of Thursday. In financial year 2010-11, it diverted Rs 7,642 crore of Vidarbha and Marathwada regions to other parts of the State. Commissioner of Police K K Pathak announced the arrests of Shekhar alias Gulnawaj Khan (25) and his associate Shiva Murlimanohar Baijankiwar (22). He addressed a press conference on Wednesday. The motive behind shooting of Diyewar, who was Vice-President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was territorial dispute over property dealings and other illegal trades between former and Shekhu, said the sources. Murder over property dispute: 5 including 2 cops get lifer

District and Sessions Judge V P Ingle held Satish Sushilkumar Shukla (31), Shailesh Sushilkumar Shukla (30), Vipin Shrikant Mishra (26), Buland Shrikant Mishra (21), Rakesh alias Jeet Harikishan Meshram (20), a resident of Mankapur, guilty of brutal murder of Ashish Kalicharan Dubey (26) and awarded lifer to them. The court acquitted three accused- Sushilkumar Sarjuprasad Shukla (56), a resident of Mankapur, Dhiraj Sheshrao Gawande (19), a resident of Zingabai Takli and Pramod Chandrikaprasad Mishra (21), a resident of Mankapur, for want of sufficient corroborative evidence.
