The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. Wadi police have booked step father for allegedly exploiting an 11-year-old girl at his residence on Sunday. Cops have registered the case after the complaint was lodged by his wife. Accused of this heinous crime has been identified as Krishna Anantrao Deshmukh (33), a resident of Suraburlid slum area, Wadi.
Assistant Police Inspector (API) Murlidhar Pachorkar said that on Sunday morning, a brawl broke out between accused and his wife. Deshmukh thrashed his wife and reportedly abused her. Dejected over husband’s behaviour, the woman left her home at morning hours. She returned home at 4 pm and was shocked and stunned to see her husband and daughter in compromising position.
She raised the alarm and neighbours rushed to her house. The lady then approached Wadi police station and narrated the shocking incident. Cops took the victim girl to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for medical examination. On the basis of medical examination report and complaint, Wadi police have registered a case under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested the accused.
The woman’s first husband passed away five years ago and she had started living in orphanage along with her two daughters. Deshmukh met her five years ago in orphan house and married her. From second marriage, the complainant women has one son and a daughter. Deshmukh, a daily wage worker exploited the girl in past also, the complainant told the police. Later, the women once again approached police station requsting the cops to withdraw case against her husband.
