Ambazari police have nabbed two persons and cracked the mystery behind shooting of property dealer Hemant Diyewar. Commissioner of Police K K Pathak announced the arrests of Shekhar alias Gulnawaj Khan (25) and his associate Shiva Murlimanohar Baijankiwar (22). He addressed a press conference on Wednesday.

The motive behind shooting of Diyewar, who was Vice-President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was territorial dispute over property dealings and other illegal trades between former and Shekhu, said the sources. Shiva is reported to be pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Commerce faculty from one of the colleges in Hingna. His admission was done by Shekhu and since then the two were knowing each other. Shiva is native of Pandharkawda village in Yavatmal district and was living in rented premises in Dharampeth.

On Sunday night, two persons gunned down Diyewar in full public view at Shankar Nagar Square. Investigations began in right earnest and Ambazari police went into background of the property dealers recent dealing and fights. The name of Shekhu Khan propped-up when efforts to reach him failed the suspicion strengthened. Further, sources said, during scouting of murder spot cops had come across an abandoned motorcycle near HDFC bank that provided them the first clue.

After the arrest of Shekhu Khan and Shiva from Jagnade Square, the cops quizzed him about the case. While confessing to crime, Shekhu claimed Diyewar was after his life and latter had also made inroads into his territory, Gittikhadan. Since then the once friends were now at loggerheads and Diyewar’s growing stature meant Shekhu was fast loosing ground.

Meanwhile, police investigation revealed that the two wheeler belonged to a friend of Shiva. And when police reached Shiva’s place they could not locate him and got to know his connections with Shekhu. The DB squad of Ambazari police reached Shekhu’s place in Jaffar Nagar but he was reportedly absconding. Police Inspector Anil Katkade was coordinating the investigation.

Since last three-days the police team raided many places to trace Shekhu Khan. Finally, a big name in the property dealing meditated and then Shekhu Khan and his associate turned themselves in, the sources claimed. Though police are firm on their theory of having nabbed the two from busy Jagnade Square.

Rebuilding the case, Shekhu Khan told his interrogators that on Sunday they were keeping watch on Diyewar. They were after the bulky Diyewar as they had hatched a plan to eliminate him. When Diyewar left Subhash Nagar the two were chasing him on their mobike. On reaching Shankar Nagar, around 9 pm, Shekhu Khan and Shiva approached Diyewar from behind and fire at him from point blank range. Shiva also allegedly attacked Diyewar with a sickle.

Ruling out use of sophisticated weapon, the sources said Shekhu had used a desi katta and same was seized.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Snajay Saxena, Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region) Anant Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-I, Kailash Kanse, DCP, Crime Branch, Sunil Kolhe, were also present at the press conference.

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha
