Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Bus passengers foil robbery bid near Central Jail

Courage and chivalry shown by bus passengers foiled an audacious robbery bid in a running bus right in front of Central Prison by a group of robbers on Sunday.  The robbers were trying to overpower bus driver on Wardha road, behind Central Jail under the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police station. Accused were identified as Suraj Wasudeo Dhurve (18), a resident of Pandharabodi and two others, who succeeded to flee from spot. A bus of ‘Savera’ travels (MH-40/Y-2115) was heading towards Wardha from Rahate colony square at 1.50 pm. Three scooty borne youths came from behind and blocked the bus right in front of Central jail gate. Two of them forcefully entered inside the bus and threatened bus driver Ravindra Kisanrao Kamble (34), a resident of Savangi Meghe, Wardha, with sharp edged weapons. Bank Manager lands in trouble while trying to rescue a damsel in distress

At times, helping others can land you in deep trouble. A Bank Manager learnt this bitter lesson on Saturday evening when he himself landed in trouble after realising that he was lured into a trap by some mischief mongers and a gang of criminals. Ram Dhapodkar, working as Manager with Nandanwan branch of Bank of Maharashtra received a call from an unidentified person informing him that one of his acquaintances was in trouble at Fetri. The manager rushed to help the lady in question and straightway played into the hands of armed gang who robbed him and relieved him of cash and other valuables. Quartet abducted woman, attempts unnatural sex

In a heinous crime, three youths abducted a woman and then forcefully attempted unnatural sex with her on Saturday evening from a very busy area. The shocking incident was reported from the jurisdiction of Dhantoli police station when the woman was searching for a place to answer nature’s call. Accused have been identified as Venkatesh Narayan Mudliyar, Mohan Narayan Mudliyar, Rajesh Narayan Mudliyar, all residents of Sitabuldi and an unknown driver who have been charged with abduction and attempting unnatural sex.  A police officer said that Asha (30) (name changed), a resident of Kausalya Nagar and a vendor, was abducted by the quartet, near Janki talkies lane on Saturday evening at around 6.45 pm to gratify their unnatural lust. Facebook logo Cyber Cell of city police is showing grave concern over abusive comments on social networking sites and started operations to control it. The men of Cyber Cell are continuously surfing the sites round the clock and sending email to head office of social websites for removal of abusive data. Assistant Police Inspector and In-charge of Cyber Cell Tapan Kolhe confirmed the information and said that offensive data on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and other social networking sites was being continuously monitored by the Cell. If any offencive data is found on the webpages, the Cell promptly sends e-mail to the websites concerned requesting its removal from the webpage. Poisonous gas in choked gutter claims life of Railway employee

Nagpur Railway Station A RAILWAY employee died after inhaling poisonous gas in a choked gutter he had wriggled into to open at Railway Station on Saturday evening.  Identified as Manoj Pannalal Grawkar (40), the deceased was a resident of Ajni.  According to Government Railway Police (GRP), Manoj and six other workers attached to Central Railway’s Inspector of Works (IoW) Department were on their routine duty.  They came near the gutter. Manoj removed the manhole cover and wriggled into the gutter to remove blockage. When Manoj did not come out after a long time, another employee went inside the 12 ft deep gutter. He was shocked to find Manoj in an unconscious state. He tried to rescue Manoj but he too fell unconscious due to  inhalation of the poisonous gas. Irate over unavailability of bed-rolls, passengers detain Garib Rath Express for 25 minutes

Unavaibility of bed-rolls in Indian railway As the passengers got irate over unavailability of bed-rolls in the train, 12611 Chennai-H Nizamuddin Garib Rath Express was detained at Ballarshah Railway Station for 25 minutes on Saturday. Divisional officers of Central Railway assured them to fulfill their demand at Nagpur Railway Station, following which the train moved ahead. At Nagpur station, demand of passengers was fulfilled and tension was relieved. The train started journey from Chennai Central at 6.10 am. Sources said that a truck laden with bed-rolls for the train met an accident. Hence, Southern Railway missed to provide bed-rolls to around 500 passengers. The passengers demanded bed-rolls to Railway employees but, employees passed the buck by saying that they would provide bed-rolls at next station.
