It write official letters, scan bank data and spot suspicious transactions. It sounds like science fiction - but it’s now reality in Maharashtra. The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. Similar exercise was held on Monday at a mall By Dheeraj Fartode National Security Guard (NSG) commandos have undertaken a series of mock drill in city. On Tuesday the NSG team along with local police moved into Visvewaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) and held the drill. Senior police official said it is a regular exercise done to keep force into high action mode. Such drills also help in fine tuning anti-terrorist strategies. The prevailing inputs with intelligence agencies point out to susceptibility of urban areas in country. Hence NSG has got into high action mode. The reports with local top police officers are that NSG has previously conducted such mock drills at Hyderabad and Kolkata before coming to city.
