Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Government committed to bring the naxal-infested region development track

Acknowledging that much needs to be done to address the problems faced by people in Naxal-infested areas, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Government is committed to overall development of the region. An action plan is being drafted to identify the shortcoming and to improve upon shortcomings in the administration. "The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is committed to bringing the naxal infested region in mainstream of development", Fadnavis opined.

Fadnavis was interacting with a group of 41 students hailing from Gadchiroli district who are on tour of State as part of Aapla Maharashtra programme organised by Maharashtra Police. The student have visited Mumbai, Pune, Ahmednagar,  Nagpur and other big cities. The tour is part of continuing efforts of Maharashtra Police to provide exposure to inhabitants of Gadchiroli to outside area and provide them an idea of what development means!

The tour would definitely provide an idea for generation next of Gadchiroli to see for themselves the opportunity that exists in the developed areas. Gadchiroli is blessed with natural beauty and the green cover of the district is envy of the many developed cities. Tourists are keen to visit Gadchiroli to enjoy the pristine nature and soak in the arms of nature and this can trigger a major turnaround for this backward region, Chief Minister felt.

Further he said Government is going to focus on skill development of youth in Gadchiroli to ensure they can stand on their own feet and finding their own footing in the society. 

Maharashtra Minister for Tribal Development Vishnu Savra said that the population of tribals in State is about one crore majority of them continue to face economic hardships. More then 500 students have benefited trough the ‘Aapla Maharashtra Tour’ till date, he said. Participants of the also group also expressed their view about the tour. Chief Minister personally interacted with the students asking them about their experience.

Students complain about absence of teachers in Gadchiroli district

The students during their interaction with Chief Minister complained about absence of teachers in Gadchiroli district. HSC students of Balwantarao Junior College stated they do not have teachers for Physics and Mathematics teachers. Another group of students from Bhamragad tehsil said that absence of teachers is a major handicap in their studies. Fadnavis directed officials to look into the matter immediately and fill-up the vacancies of teachers in the district.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
