The City police have put in place a high-tech security plan for New Year’s Eve to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations. Sniffer dogs will be used to hunt down drug consumption on city roads, while drones will scan rooftops and isolated areas to prevent illegal activities. In addition, police will set up checking and nakabandi at 131 points across the city to keep strict watch on drunk driving and maintain law and order throughout the night. Around 2,500 policemen, from police constables to the Police Commissioner , will be deployed on city roads to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations. Jammer attached to a car with red beacon at Nagpur. Red beacon couldn't be a saviour By Dheeraj Fartode Traffic police on Thursday attached a jammer to a car with red beacon as it was parked in a No Parking zone on West High Court (WHC) road. A senior traffic police officer informed ‘The Hitavada’ that the car (MH-31/CA-3726) was taken on rent by District administration on Thursday for a Member of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The driver Milind Kamble (30), a resident of Paradsinga, dropped the officer at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in the evening. However the driver did not remove the red beacon and continue to drive the car in the city. He also parked the car in no-parking area opposite Haldiram’s restaurant at Shankar Nagar Square, thinking no one will dare to take action.
