City Police start analysis of crimes to identify ‘hot-spots’

With an aim to identify crime hot-spots and increase vigil there, City Police have started analysis of the information received at Police Control Room. The final report of the analysis is expected to come out in a week, based on which beat marshals and patrolling vans will be deployed. “The system will help in identifying crime hot-spots where brawl, illegal activities, nuisance Joint CP Shivaji Bodhe, IPS and accidents are routine. Three robberies in Nagpur within 24-hours

Three incidents of robberies reported in city in Ganeshpeth, Pachpaoli and Nandanvan area in which two women and a man lost booty over Rs 1.10 lakh on Friday. In first incident, three bike-borne youths robbed a man of cash worth Rs 57,000 at at Ganeshpeth area. The police said, Shahrukh Khan Raheman Khan (24), a resident of Arwi town of Wardha District was walking towards his four-wheeler after selling fish at Fish market at 12.30 pm. Three youths came on motorcycle and threatened Shahrukh with sharp-edged weapon. After snatching cash from his pocket, the robbers sped away from the spot. Ganeshpeth police have registered the case under Sections 392 and 34 of IPC. In another incident reported at Pachpaoli area, two bike-borne robbers targeted a woman -- Samiksha Pankaj Gajbhiye (32), a resident of Vaishali Nagar, and snatched away her gold ornaments worth Rs 10,000. With jump of 8%, Nagpur Police records 23% Conviction rate

With jump of eight percent, the Nagpur Police has recorded 23% conviction rate in Indian Penal Code (IPC) cases which is the indication of improvement in quality investigation and argument of cases by prosecution. Police to launch crackdown against land mafia

City Police’s Zone-IV: Highest detection rate in city, gory crime decreased, thefts are on rise

By Dheeraj Fartode Zone - IV of Nagpur Police Commissionerate covers Imambada, Ajni, Sakkardara, Nandanvan and Hudkeshwar Police Stations. The Zone is notorious for body offences but still crime decreased in the Zone with 5.01 per cent while detection rate increased by three per cent in year 2016 which is maximum among all five Zones of Nagpur Police Commissionerate. Excluding thefts, hurts and molestation, the Zone showed decreasing trend in all important heads of Indian Penal Code (IPC). DCP Ravindrasingh Pardeshi According to the statistics, the Zone recorded 1,931 crime cases in year 2016 as against 2,033 cases in year 2015 and 1,749 in year 2014. The Zone have detected 1,304 cases with detection rate of 68 per cent in year 2016. Detection rate of the Zone was 65 per cent in year 2015 and 56.66 per cent in year 2014. City police Zone-III: Massive surge in cases of murders and hurt with overall crime, 5% increase in detection rate

By Dheeraj Fartode Zone-III of Nagpur Police Commissionerate covers Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Tehsil, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli and Shanti Nagar Police Stations. This is the only Zone where surge in crime cases recorded in the commissionerate. Overall crime increased in the zone by 2.32 per cent while detection rate increased by DCP Sambhaji Kadam 5 per cent. The Zone have also recorded massive 18 per cent drop in preventive action in year 2016. This Zone in particular is known for dense population and perhaps also reason for high crime rate as this is also the major business hub of city. As per the statistics, the Zone have recorded 1,810 crime cases in year 2016 as against 1,768 cases in year 2015 and 1,617 in year 2014. City Police’s Zone-II: Crime rate down and detection up but dacoities doubled

The Zone has recorded decrease in crime by 4.27 per cent due to extensive preventive action and marginal 3.82 per cent increase in detection rate, which is less than Nagpur DCP Rakesh Kalasagar, IPS Police Commissionerate overall rate. Substantial increase in attempt to murder, hurt and dacoity would be main concern for the Zonal officials. As per the statistics, the Zone has recorded 2,241 crime cases in year 2016 as against 2,341 cases in year 2015 and 2,218 in year 2014.
