Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. City police starts exercise for total revamp of Commissionerate

City police to have new zone for upcoming police stations  By Dheeraj Fartode A massive exercise to reorganise jurisdiction of Nagpur Police Commissionerate, including constitution of a new zone after addition of three police stations from Nagpur Rural Police, has been undertaken by the city police. Commissioner of Police (CP) Sharda Prasad Yadav has directed officers to study the crime scenario and suggest modalities for demarcation of zones so that an effective policing can be carried out in the Commissionerate. After studying the pros and cons final proposal will be put-up before Director General of Police (DGP) for approval from State Government, it is learnt. Sonegaon Police book liquor baron for evading VAT

By Dheeraj Fartode Sonegaon Police booked six directors of Vidarbha Bottlers Pvt Ltd for Value Added Tax (VAT) evasion worth Rs 17.49 crore. The firm deals in production of country liquor. The company duped Department of Sales Tax by showing nil liability for 2013-14 and 2014-15. On the contrary, the company was sold manufacture country liquor and earned profits.  The accused are identified as Amrish Suresh Jaiswal, Sanju Suresh Jaiswal, Suresh Bhayyalal Jaiswal, all are residents of Chhaya Vila, 14-C, Dhantoli; Vaibhav Jaiswal, Vishal Jaiswal, Devilal Jaiswal, all are residents of Ram Nagar.  A senior officer of Sonegaon police station informed that the company had showed decreasing sale in financial year 2011-12 and 2011-13 and nil since in year 2013-14 and 2014-15 in returns filed at the department. Sounds baffling, but the idea has taken shape and an Rs. 35 lakh bottling plant is in offing at office of Commissioner of Police. A water purification plant having capacity of 1.20 lakh litres per day is planned that will cater to requirement of commissionerate. DB squad of Ajni Police Station under fire for shoddy investigation style  By Dheeraj Fartode Investigation skills of Ajni police are under scanner as they have failed to trace the accused involved in murder of Vinaychandra Ganvir alias Pappu. Nine days have passed after Ganvir was stabbed to death outside notorious Laxmi Bar at Medical Square on March 11. Skylark hotel firing: Accused arrested from Amravati

Victim in firing case succumbed to the injuries on Thursday  By Dheeraj Fartode Tehsil police on Thursday arrested accused in the Sylark firing case from Amravati. “Accused Ramjan Shaha, a resident of Motibagh fled the city on Monday and was hiding at his relative’s house under the jurisdiction of Nagpuri Gate Police Station of Amravati,” informed Spokesperson of Nagpur City Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Detection) Ranjan Kumar Sharma. However, cops are yet to know about exact reason behind the firing. Meanwhile,  victim Vivek Ratan Jain (42), a resident of TV Tower area, succumbed to bullet injuries on Thursday afternoon.  DCP Sharma further stated that the accused was taken to the city at 4 pm. DGP ask officers to puts on hold Dance bar licence

In a letter, DGP asked officials not to grant licences in a hurry as government is bringing up a new legislation By Dheeraj Fartode Hopes of bar owners in Maharashtra of getting licenses to restart lucrative business of staging dances of bar girls have been halted following  a clear directive from office of Director General of Police (DGP) to put on hold all applications or at best adopt go slow approach.  The DGP has directed field units not to process applications for license as of now since Maharashtra Government is coming-up with new legislation to ban dance performances by bar girls. Meanwhile, six bar owners in second capital have applied to Nagpur Police, seeking license to stage performance of female dance troupes.
