Cops to ask hoteliers, shops for character certificate of staffers

By Dheeraj Fartode

Alarmed by violent tendencies displayed by a staffer in Skylark hotel firing case, the City police has decided to check antedencents of all employees working at hotels, shops, restaurants and malls.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Joint CP) Rajvardhan on Thursday conducted a meeting of all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and ordered them to check whether any criminal is working at any of these places?
A senior police officer informed The Hitavada, Skylark firing case has raised eyebrows of senior police officers. It also revealed the unpleasant truth of many criminals covertly or overtly working with many of the commercial establishments and some anti-socials disguising as employees are also carrying unlicenced guns. Sensing a grave danger to public peace and tranquility, Nagpur Police have decided to scan all employees. Most of these establishments witness high attrition rates and many novices and unknown persons are offered the jobs directly or sent by some placement agencies, without any check of their past.
Spokesperson of City Police DCP Ranjan Kumar Sharma informed that Joint CP Rajvardhan would issue an order under Section 144 of The Code of Criminal Procedure within 48 hours and order all commercial establishments to submitt Character Certificates of their employees with the concerned police stations. Cops would take stern action against establishment where staffers with criminal antecedent or direct involvement in criminal activities are employed, said another officer.
After the order, Police Station will start Character Certificate checking drive at all Bars, Restaurants, Shops and Malls so that Skylark firing incident should not be repeated.
It can be mentioned, the Skylark Firing incident has unearthed the extent of negligence on part of police and their cosy relationship with hotel owners. The bouncer with criminal history was working at the hotel since two months right under the nose of Tehsil Police Station. Shockingly, the bouncer regularly carried gun in the hotel.
Interestingly, DCP Sharma had floated WhatsApp groups of all hotel and lodges of city to connect the hotel employees with police four months ago. To a query whether Hotel Skylark’s employees are members of WhatsApp group, the DCP said, “the group was floated for lodges.”

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha

The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha. It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza. Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined. However, now with the construction of the new bridge tourists will get a chance see the scenic backwaters across the river bed which is
