It write official letters, scan bank data and spot suspicious transactions. It sounds like science fiction - but it’s now reality in Maharashtra. The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. Secretary General of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Milind Parande on Saturday said that more than 25,000 of Muslims and Christians were reconverted in Hindu religion in 2018. “We are organising reconversion programmes regularly across the country to reconvert Muslims and Christians in Hindu religion. The programme was conducted this year too but the figures are not compiled,” he said. Addressing a press conference, Parande said that religious conversion is a national problem. “VHP want a bill which will make it difficult to convert people to other religions.
