Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. JEALOUS with regular Facebook posts of a friend with his girlfriend, a youth kidnapped his friend with the help of two ‘fake policemen’ to extract details of his business. But the kidanppers landed in police lock up when beat marshals rounded them on suspicion.
The accused have been identified as Anmol Babulal Dongre (23), a resident of Manewada, Vidhnyan Nagar; Kishore Babanrao Chunatkar (42), a resident of Mhada Colony, Wadi and Shahzad Khan Habib Khan (41), a resident of Mominpura.
Dongre is a Medical Representative while Kishore and Shahjad are security guard and mechanic respectivelly.
Accused Dongre is the friend of complainant Neeraj Verma (17), a resident of Vidya Nagar. Dongre was obsessed over Verma after observing his regular posts with his girlfriend on Facebook, in which he was seen spending money on new cloaths and shopping. He presumed that Verma was indulged in some “illegal business” and making lakhs of money.
To get his business details, Dangre hatched conspiracy with Kishore and Shahzad. He called Verma near Dhantoli garden ofor a meeting and took him to Ramdaspeth area in his car where Kishore and Shahzad boarded in the vehicle posing themselves as policemen on Friday 3 pm. They took Verma to Wadi area where the ‘fake policemen’ beaten up Verma to extract details of his business.
Meanwhile, Beat Marshals of Wadi police station noticed the youths and arrived at the spot. After hearing the story from Verma, the cops took the accused to police station. Dhantoli police have registered the case under Sections 363, 170, 323, 504, 506 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
Vijay Akot, Police Inspector of Dhantoli police station informed The Hitavada that Verma had invested money in casino business in Goa. “He told his girlfriend that he was making thousands of money per month on the investment few lakhs. His girlfriend had also invested Rs 3.5 lakh in the business,” said PI Akot.
