Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Nitin Gadkari declared assests worth Rs 24.12 crore

Union Minister and BJP’s candidate for Nagpur Lok Sabha seat Nitin Gadkari declared his assets including 29 acres of agriculture land at Dhapewada, ancestral house at Mahal, a flat at MLA society in Worli (Mumbai) and jewellery worth over Rs 53 lakh. Collective value of Nitin Gadakri’s movable and immovable assets, as per the affidavit, is Rs 25,12,35,649.  According to affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers here today, Gadkari revealed movable assets worth Rs 69,38,691 in his name, Rs 91,99,160 in his wife’s name and Rs 66,07,924 in Hindu Undivided Family (HUF). While immovable assets worth Rs 6,95,98,325 are registered in the names of Nitin Gadkari, while assets worth Rs 6,48,60,325 are registered in the name of his wife Kanchan and those worth Rs 9,40,31,224 are registered in the name of HUF. Nana Patole owns property worth Rs 1.78 crore

Former MP and Congress candidate for Nagpur Lok Sabha seat Nana Patole declared his assets including immovable property worth Rs 96,17,183 and movable property worth Rs 82,75,000 including 20 acre land in Bhandara district.  Patole on Monday filed nomination papers before Returning Officer. As per the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers, Patole claimed to have movable property worth Rs 68.71 lakh in his name while property worth Rs 23.64 lakh is registered in his wife’s name. Movable property of Rs 4.11 lakh is registered in the name of Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).  Patole is the owner of immovable property worth Rs 41.75 lakh while property worth Rs 41 lakh is registered in his wife’s name. Last day of nomination : 48 candidates file papers for Nagpur, 24 for Ramtek

After a heavy rush of nominations for Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha seat, the process came to an end on Monday, with 48 nomination for Nagpur and 24 for Ramtek Lok Sabha seats. A total of 34 nomination papers were filed for Nagpur and  22 were filed for Ramtek on the last day. District Collector and Returning Officer (RO) Ashwin Mudgal informed The Hitavada that all the nomination papers with affidavits and required documents were accepted on the last day. Scrutiny of the documents will be carried out on Tuesday at 11 am, he informed.  Prominent candidates including Nitin Gadkari, Nana Patole, Krupal Tumane and Kishor Gajbhiye filed nomination papers amid huge fanfare. Local leaders demands Mukul Wasnik for Ramtek LS

Local Congress leaders from the district on Friday demanded that Congress Party should field AICC General Secretary and former Union Minister Mukul Wasnik from Lok Sabha. Addressing a press conference at Press Club, MPCC Secretary Mujib Pathan and Nana Gawande said that Wasnik stands to surely win the seat if Wasnik is fielded. “Wasnik was in constant touch with locals inspite of his loss in the last election,” said Pathan and also read out list of development works carried out by former during his regime between year 2009 and 2014. Mother and grand-daughter brutally murdered, bodies dumped in nullah

Usha Kamble was murdered over dispute of Rs 7,000 DISPUTE over a small amount of Rs 7,000 resulted in gory murder of a woman and her one-and-a-half year old granddaughter at Pawansut Nagar on Saturday evening. After slitting their throats with sharp-weapon at his residence, the accused packed the bodies in sacks and threw in a nullah near Durga lay-out, behind Vihirgaon village on Umred Road. The bodies were recovered on Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as 54-year old Usha Sevakdas Kamble and one and half-year-old Rashi Ravikant Kamble, both residents of Plot No. 17, Pawansut Nagar, New Dighori. Usha was the mother and Rashi was daughter of Ravikant Kamble, crime reporter of ‘Nagpur Today’ portal. The accused has been identified as Ganesh alias Golu Ramcharan Shahu (26), a resident of Plot No. 34, Pawansut Nagar. CM's security detail gets an upgrade to bring in uniformity of approach

Now ASL to be conducted by team of Mumbai's SPU By Dheeraj Fartode The Advance Security Liaison (ASL) for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visits throughout the State would henceforth be handled by his personal security team of Special Protection Unit. This new norms would be applicable even for  visits Fadnavis undertake outside the State, but within the country. This new practice was put in place to bring about uniformity in practices of advance survey which are customarily used to be carried out by respective district SPUs units along with respective local police teams. Means now a team from SPU's Mumbai unit would undertake the advance location survey whenever CM is to visit outside the capital city. The visiting team would dictate the terms to local units henceforth, in simple terms. Gold valuer attempts to secure loan by submitting fake gold quality report

A gold valuer of Arvind Sahkari Bank and another man have been arrested by the MIDC police for mortgaging fake gold in the bank and procuring loan. The accused have been identified as gold valuer Pravin Suresh Rotkar (39), a resident of Plot No. 18, Trimurti Nagar and Naresh Pundalik Umale (44), a residnet of Trimurti Nagar, near NIT garden.  Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Kale informed that Rotkar is among the three bank-approved gold valuers, who carries out all the necessary quality checks before granting the loans.  Rotkar was on contract with the bank since last three years and he was getting a share after submitting a report about quality of gold. He owns a Jewerly shop in city. On Wednesday, Rotkar along with Umale arrived in the bank with gold ornametns and applied for loan worth Rs three lakh.
