IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. He uncovered a state-wide kidney transplant racket in Akola and, as DCP in Nagpur, dismantled organized crime syndicates through MCOCA and MPDA cases. Five-year-old boy killed after house gate falls on him

A five-year-old boy was killed when the gate he was playing with collapsed on him in the limits of Kalamna police. The heart-wrenching incident took place on Saturday evening, Kalamna police said.

According to police, Tulsidas Ramchandra Tangale (46) was living in the rented accomodation at Plot No. 114, Nivrutti Nagar, Gujrati Colony, for the past few years. His son Riyash was playing with the gate on Saturday at 4 pm. The heavy gate suddenly collapsed on him. Riyash was trapped under the gate. The family members rescued him. He sustained grievous head injuries in the accident. Profusely bleeding Riyash was taken to the hospital where he breathed his last. A case of accidental death was registered by Kalamna police. Further investigation is on.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha.
