Amarinder Bagga arrested from Nanded after five-month hunt

Notorious goon Amarinder Singh Bagga was arrested at Nanded by a team of Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) after a five-month hunt. The police produced him before the court on Saturday and obtained his police custody till June 3. Bagga was absconding after registration of an offence against him for trying to implicate a trader in a bogus drug case.
Bagga owns Singh Barbeque in Vardhman Nagar. In this case, the police had earlier arrested four persons including Nikita Rahul Meshram (28), a resident of Lashkaribagh; Manmit Singh Harvinder Singh Takkhar (22), a resident of Gurunanakpura.
It may be mentioned that there was a dispute between Bagga and trader Chhabrani over a plot in the Wathoda area. Thutheja is a friend of Chhabrani. He helped Chhabrani in this matter. Wathoda police had registered a case against Bagga and his accomplices on Chhabrani's complaint. As a result, Bagga got angry over Chhabrani and Thutheja. In December 2020, Bagga had given a ‘contract’ of Rs 1.5 lakh to drug smuggler Kanni to trap Thutheja in a drug smuggling case. Kanni, with the help of Nikita, plots to implicate Thutheja's son Himanshu who owns a mobile shop called Deepika Telecom in Wardhaman Nagar.
Impersonating herself as a customer Nikita went to the shop in the first week of December last year. Under the pretext of picking her purse, Nikita placed three grams of MD powder under the counter of the shop and walked away. Meanwhile, an accomplice of Bagga gave a tip-off to the Crime Branch about MD kept in the shop of Himanshu. Soon after, Himanshu grew suspicious and checked the counter and found the drug in a small pouch. He threw the pouch. The police raided the shop but found nothing. Himanshu checked the CCTV footage in which it was evident that the pouch was kept by the woman. Later, Bagga's name popped up during investigation of the case.
After registration of an offence, the police arrested Nikita, Kanni, Harvinder Singh Gothra and Jagdish Kosurkar. Bagga went absconding in December. After tracking him for five months, the police got his location and arrested him. Under the guidance of CP Amitesh Kumar, Addl CP Sunil Phulari, the arrest was made by in-charge of ANC Vishal Kale, API Suraj Suroshe and others.

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha
