Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Wildlife being smuggled as consignment of chicken in trains; DG RPF orders action

ALARMED by the growing incidents of smuggling of birds and wild animals in the garb of transport of chicken consignment in trains, Director General of Railway Protection Force Service (DG RPFS) has directed all units to physically check every consignment and detect false declarations.
DG RPFS Arun Kumar laid down new guidelines for the force to prevent illegal transportation of wildlife in the national transporter. “Vulnerable trains for illegal carriage of wildlife should be identified and all out efforts should be made with intensive and sustained action,” stated DGP Kumar.
“Railway has been used for illegal transportation of wildlife. RPFS made several recoveries of such wildlife and handed them over to concerned agencies,” he stated in his recently issued circular to all RPFS units across the country.
In his guidelines, Arun Kumar stated that no consignment of birds or any wild animals including rabbit should be accepted unless the consigner and consignee furnish a joint statement duly signed by them and containing an elaborate and accurate description of each birds and animals.
Besides other necessary documents required, no consignment of birds or any wild animals including rabbits should be accepted unless a certificate issued from the authorised officers including Chief Wildlife Wardens or district Animal Husbandry Officer, or as per designated officer/office of the concern state. 
The consignor of such birds and wild animals including rabbits will present all the relevant documents to Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM) of the concerned division for scrutiny/authorisation.
He further added that non-consignment of birds or any wild animals including rabbits will be accepted for booking by any Parcel Officer or Goods Shed unless clear authorisation is received from the ACM of concerned division. 
Each case of such booking authorised by ACM will be serially documented and records in respect thereof maintained by the office of ACM as also the Chief Parcel Clerk/Chief Goods Clerk of the Parcel Office/Goods Shed. The DG RPF also asked that the mandatory conditions for receiving, forwarding, carrying or delivering for carriage of birds and animals should be paste and published at all Railway Stations and other places.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
