Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Maha police registers 27,432 offences for violating lockdown

The Maharashtra Police, till Wednesday evening, registered 27,432 First Investigation Reports (FIRs) against thousands of people for violating the lockdown orders. Of them, 4,535 offences were registered in the Vidarbha region including massive 1,999 in Nagpur Police Commissionerate alone. 

Law and Order (L&O) Department of State police issued the statistics on Wednesday evening. Besides registering massive number of offences for violation of lockdown, the police have booked 438 persons for violating quarantine measures. Shockingly, a total of 60 policemen were attacked across the state while performing duty and 161 persons were arrested for the offences. Two policemen were infected in the State while saving the citizens from coronavirus infection and they are placed under quarantine. 

Similarly, the police have registered 977 offences for illegal transportation of various goods including liquor. A total of 1,886 persons were arrested and massive 12,420 vehicles were seized by the police. The police have imposed fine of Rs 95.56 lakh against the violators during the lockdown period. 
The entire police force is on the streets to manage the smooth flow of essential services across the State. As the State government ordered sealing of borders of districts and state, a large number of policemen deployed at entry points all cities. This nakabandi resulted into prohibiting vehicles from plying unnecessarily. 
In Vidarbha, Nagpur police have registered maximum 1,999 offences, followed by 637 offence by Buldhana police, 417 by Washim police, 407 by Amravati City Commissionerate, 308 by Yavatmal police, 154 by Amravati Rural, 131 by Bhandara police, 112 Gondia police, 104 by Wardha police, 95 by Chandrapur police, 69 by Gadchiroli police, 62 by Nagpur Rural and 40 by Akola police. 

Nagpur police tops chart of receiving 
phone calls regarding COVID-19

The Nagpur City Police topped the chart in the state for receiving phone calls at Control Room. In Maharashtra, a total of 58,009 phone calls were received till Wednesday. Of them, massive 17,668 phone calls were received at Nagpur Police Control Room followed by 14,698 at Mumbai Police, 6,885 by Pune police and so on.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
