IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. A 12-year-old boy was kidnapped by a man who got the contract from the kid’s aunt. The woman was inspired by a crime show on television, said police. The boy was released by the kidnapper after Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Rural Police tightened noose of accused involved in the crime.
According to police, accused Sarika Dinesh Bhagat (36), a resident of Ward No. 3, Butibori, is aunt of Saniket Rajesh Ingole (12), a resident of Butibori. Sarika hatched the conspiracy of kidnapping and roped in Gangaprasad Mohanlal Yerne (27), a resident of Khapri in the crime. She had promised Rs 50,000/- to Gangaprasad for same.
Sarika and Gangaprasad kidnapped the boy from his school in Butibori on Wednesday. They bundled him in a car and drove to Shegaon in Buldhana district where Gangaprasad stayed with the boy while Sarika and returned Butibori with car driver.
When Saniket did not return home, his mother lodged a missing complaint with the police. Butibori police registered the case under Section 363 of Indian Penal Code and launched probe.
The cops initially were clueless. They started to scan all the CCTV cameras from the school to the place where the boy was living. The cops got a lead through CCTV and identified Gangaprasad who doing recce for past three days.
They zeroed in on Gangaprasad and got the information that he had gone somewhere with Sarika. As Sarika was present at the house, the cops took her to police station and grilled her. She finally surrendered before the police and confessed for the crime. The police then asked her to call Gangaprasad and ask him to release the boy safely. After pressure mounted by the police, the accused came to Wardha in Sewagram express on Thursday where the boy boarded in a bus and arrived at Butibori. However, Gangaprasad managed to flee the spot.
Under the guidance of Superitendent of Police Rakesh Ola, Addl SP Monika Raut, the arrest was made by LCB PI Anil Jittawar, Butibori PI Asif Sheikh, WPSI Thora, PSI Sachin Matte, Javed Sheikh and staff including Mahesh Jadahv, Gajendra Choudhary, Rama Aade, Satish Rathod, Sonu Chatap, Snehalata Dhawale, Bhaurao Khandate and others.
