Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Chikhli fly-over accidents : police books youths for setting truck on fire

KALAMNA police have booked more than 15 persons for setting a truck on fire following a road accident in which two youths were killed on Chikhli fly-over late Sunday night. 
According to police, Devlal Rumlal Shahu (30), and Kamlesh Santosh Mahamalla (20), both residents of Vinoba Bhave Nagar were killed in Rohit Anand Katekar (26) was seriously injured in the accident. He was admitted in the hospital and his condition is reportedly critical. 
According to police, angry over death of the youths in a road accident, unruly mob ransacked a truck and torched another truck on Chikhali fly-over.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone V Neelotpal informed that the truck was moving in a great speed towards Yashodhara Nagar Chowk and three youngsters were also moving in same direction in a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle at around 11 pm. When the youths were overtaking the truck, the truck driver hit the truck from behind. Soon after, the bikers lost control over the bike and came under the wheels of the truck. 
The truck driver immediately stopped the vehicle and fled the spot fearing public wrath. However, bodies of the youths were lying crushed under the wheels of the truck. The youths were seriously injured in the accidents and two of them breathed their last on the spot. An eye-witness said that there were blood stains all over the spot as the youths were profusely bleeding. 
Soon after the accident, a large number of locals gathered at spot and ransacked the truck. Some of the youths torched a truck which was parked at the roadside due to technical problem.  A large number of police personnel were deployed at the spot as the locals were protesting against the accident. A fire tender was also called to douse the burning truck. Traffic on the road was badly affected after the incident.
Kalamna police have registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 134, 177 and 184 of Motor Vehicle Act against the truck. The rioters were booked under Sections 435, 427, 143, 145, 147 and 149 of Indian Penal Code.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
