Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Woman jumps to death in front of hubby

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 30-year-old woman allegedly jumped to her death in front of her husband from the third floor of a posh apartment in Hudkeshwar area on Monday night. Her one-and-a-half-year-old twin son and daughter were in the bedroom when she took the extreme step. 
The deceased has been identified as Sonali Amardeep Rangari (30), a resident of Flat No. 304, Building No. 1, Anand Vihar colony, Hudkeshwar. 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone IV Nirmala Devi informed that Sonali was native of Mumbai and she married with Amardeep against the wish of her parents. After marriage, Sonali had stopped practice in the court and she had given berth to twin son and daughter last year. 
Amaradeep had recently purchased a flat in Anand Vihar Colony and house warming ceremony was organisd on Sunday. Relatives of Amardeep attended the function but no relatives from Sonali’s side including her parents turned up for the event. 
There was heated exchange of words between the couple as Sonali was upset over Amardeep’s relative for staying at their new home for last three-days. While arguing with Amardeep in the balcony of the flat, Sonali suddenly jumped from the balcony at around 11.30 pm. Her head was smashed against a heap of paver blocks. She was seriously injured in the incident and blood was oozing from her head. Amardeep and others rushed her to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Sonali had made eight phone calls to her mother and her husband on Monday between 8 pm and 9 pm. However, no one had responded to the calls. 
Hudkeshwar police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is on. 

Man duped of Rs 60,000 after exchanging debit card at ATM kiosk 

A 44-year-old man was allegedly duped of Rs 60,000 by an unidentified man in Kapil Nagar after he swapped his ATM card with a replica and withdrew the amount. 
According to the police, Vinod Anilrao Narnaware, a resident of Sanyal Nagar slums, Nari Road, Teka Naka, had gone to ATM kiosk of State Bank of India (SBI) to withdraw the money on September 9 at 11 am. As Vinod entered the kiosk, a man stood right next to him inside the kiosk on pretext of helping him. Vinod had withdrawn Rs 10,000 in the first attempt but he was not able to withdraw the cash in the second attempt. The man took his ATM card himself on pretext of helping him in and gave it another try without any success. A police officer said that once the victim reached home, he realised that his ATM card was exchanged with a replica. However, the accused had managed to withdraw Rs 60,000 from the account. The police have registered the case under Section 420 of Indian Penal Code.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
