Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Dispute over Rs 200 turned into murder in Jaripatka

A dispute over borrowed money of Rs 200/- turned into murder in Jaripatka police station area. Three youths have been arrested by the cops for the murder of Rishabh Hemant Matne (24), a resident of Mecosabagh, Lumbini Nagar.
The accused have been identified as Akash Thapa (23), Arnold alias Sheltin (22) and Raj Mehta (23) and an unidentified person. According to police, the accused had given Rs 200/- of their friend. A brawl broke out between the accused and their friend last week. Meanwhile, Rishabh arrived at the spot and intervened into the matter.
After three days, Rishabh attacked the accused when they abused him. On Saturday night, the accused decided to eliminate Rishabh when they were consuming liquor. After finding Rishabh near his house, the accused attacked him with sticks and iron rods. He was seriously injured in the attack. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Jaripatka police have registered the case under Sections 302, 341, 504 and 34 of Indian Penal Code. 

Hostel warden raped girl 

Hingna police have booked a hostel Warden for raping a 23-year-old girl inmate. The accused has been identified as Pankaj Liladhar Wadaskar (25), a resident of Waghdhara, Nagpur. According to police, the accused is Warden at a hostel of a reputed engineering college in near Dongargaon. The girl is a resident of Chandrapur. She was staying at the hostel to attend training under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana. The Warden was living in the same hostel. He called the girl on a mobile phone on Thursday night saying that he was having headache. He asked the girl to come with a bottle of balm. When the girl went to the Warden's room on the upper floor where the alleged incident happened. He forcibly pulled the girl into the room and raped her. Thereafter, the Warden allegedly threatened her that he would spoil her future if she disclose the incident to anyone. The victim returned to her room in the night. She mustered courage and narrated the incident to her mother on telephone on Saturday morning. On the basis of complaint lodged by the girl, the police have booked the accused under Sections 376 (2) 9d) and 506 of Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
