Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Youth attempts to kill priest for 30 rupees

A priest at Hanuman temple was attempted to murder by a man for Rs 30 in Narayanpur village in Katol police station on Friday night. The accused has been identified as Ramgopal Mishra (34), a resident of Naraynpur.  According to police, Gopalrao Mahadeo Gahukar (64), a resident of Paradsingha is priest at the temple for last 25 years. The unidentified accused came at the temple in the evening hours and demanded Rs 30 but the priest refused. Furious, the accused started abusing him and when he objected, he attacked Gopalrao with sharp-edged weapon. After stabbing the priest in neck, face and chest, Mishra fled the spot leaving Gopalrao in the pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital by villagers where his condition is reportedly critical. Katol police have registered the case under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused.

Man booked for abetting wife to commit suicide 

Hudkeshwar police have booked a man for abetting his wife to commit suicide. Jayashri Vikram Narnawre (30) ended her life on Friday after finding out that husband had been cheating on her. The woman hanged herself at her residence at Lane No. 6, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Hudkeshwar. 
Accused Vikram Vitthal Narnawre (35), a resident of Model Society, Chhatrapati Chowk was torturing Jayashree mentally and physically for last several months. They tied nuptial knot in year 2014. Vikram have a shop in Ajni area. The woman learnt about Vikram’s extra marital affair on Thursday after checking his mobile phone. She decided to teach him lesson by ending her life and committed suicide after Vikram went to office on Friday morning. Hudkeshwar police have recovered a suicide note from the spot in which Jayashree accused her husband. The accused has been booked under section 306 of Indian Penal Code.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha. It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
