28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. BMW car catches fire at Alankar Talkies Square

Tense moment bear at Alankar Talkies square when a BMW car caught fire on Tuesday. The three occupants of the car managed to escape unhurt. But traffic movement on VIP road and North Ambazari Road was badly affected for an hour. The car belongs to Dr. Sudhir Narel and Dr. Narel was in the car when the engine caught fire. 
According to information, thick smoke bellowing out of the engine after the car (MH-31/DC-0007) arrived at Alankar square from Shankar Nagar square at 7.45 pm. As soon as the three occupants noticed smoke from the engine, they immediately deboarded from the car. The information was given to the fire and emergency services. A fire tender from Civil lines fire station rushed to the spot and controlled the fire in an hour.  An eye-witnessed informed that the car driver tried to switch off the engine, but in vain. Just minute before the fire engulfed the front area of the car, the occupants came out of the car.
Traffic movement on both VIP road and North Ambazari Road was badly affected after the incident as the car caught fire in the middle of the square. The traffic police had diverted the traffic for an hour. An official of fire department said that short-circuit in the battery was the reason behind the fire.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
