Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Sitabuldi police have booked a woman for stealing a purse of a woman at Mor Bhavan Bus Stop on Friday.
According to police, Alka Pravin Kuril (28), a resident of Milan square, Khaparkheda boarded in a wrong bus at Mor Bhavan Bus Stop at 12.20 pm and immediately deboarded leaving a bag in the bus. Grabbing the opprtunity, accused Ashadevi Mukesh Kaithwas (28), a resident of Rohna Road, Walni, Saoner removed a purse containing valuables worth Rs 1.20 lakh from Alka’s bag. When Alka checked the bag she realised that the purse has been stolen from the bag. She immedietely raised an alarm and alerted the passengers and Ashadevi was caught as the purse discovered in her bag. The police have booked the acccused under Section 379 of Indian Penal Code.
